Thar She Blows!
OK, "thar she leaks". Here's a shot of Mount St. Helens, taken this afternoon at about 2:15 PST. That's not a cloud, it's a steam plume coming out of the building lava dome.
Live camera shot courtesy of KING5.com and the Johnston Ridge Observatory.
I remember this baby blew it's top just before I headed for the West Coast in 1980. There as talk that we'd have to land somewhere other than LA at the time because of all the ash still floating around. Have you noticed I have some sort of 'gift' for being on the move slightly after a disaster happens?! Be safe Jojo.
Mount St. Helens isn't close to me at all; it's quite a bit farther south, closer to Portland OR than to me. Mt. Rainier is the one that's near me but so far it hasn't been active in a couple hundred years or so.
I understand they could see the steam plume from as far away as Portland!
ReplyDeleteHow close is it to you?
