October 2016

The fall is passing by so fast just like the rest of the year.  I haven't taken many foliage pictures because it seemed like it lasted a week.  Now the leaves are falling off the trees.  Buzzards Bay continues to disappoint me with the lack of seasonal spirit.  No scarecrows again this year.  Main Street at my end of town is still a disgrace with vacant and crumbling buildings.  Now the park is all torn up to be redone (supposedly better) which means no Christmas tree or decorations down there either.

Did everyone get out to see the beautiful, full Hunters Moon that was also a super moon?  A couple of days before it was completely full, I took the tripod outside and shot 16 pictures in different exposures.  The very last picture was 'the money shot'.  I did like how the moon looks like it's being held up by the tree.

I'm very happy with this shot.  It's so hard to get a good pic of the moon so I'm just going to call this 'good' and not keep trying to get 'the perfect picture' of it.  This one will do nicely.

Another pretty sunset.

I took this near where I grew up in E. Sandwich.  In an odd twist of fate, when I was checking my 'on this day' memories, I'd taken similar photos on the same date as these, in 2012.

Hoxie Pond

This is a couple of houses down from me.  They've done a great job with their Halloween decorations!

It's hard to believe that we are heading full bore into the holidays again.  I wish time would slow down a little!

    1. I hope they get some kids. Last year we didn't get anyone, but our yard is dark. I'd even put a carved and lit pumpkin on the back of my car to entice trick or treaters but no one came.

  2. Excellent pics. Way more color than Texas. Lots of homes decorated here so there is some spirit. Fun post!!

    1. Thanks Joanne! It didn't last very long though, sadly. I wish the foliage could go on for a month! It's so pretty when it's at peak.

    1. Thank you! When I was a kid I walked that stretch of tracks a few times, as they run along the back side of the cranberry bog across the street from my parents' house. It's a really pretty walk with ponds and lots of trees.

  4. Love your pictures as usual JoJo. Not all that many people decorate round here either. We never see any kids living in an apartment.

    1. Thanks Jo! Our decorations are pretty much just for us...and mostly me. Russell seems to like them.

I agree, JoJo. I feel like this last month has just flown by. Where did the time go? I don't remember a month going by this fast ever before. That shot of the moon is sheer perfection. I love it! I had to do a long distance drive and while the drive itself sucks, the foliage was beautiful. One of the perks, for sure. Your pictures, though...way better than what I saw :)

  6. That is an awesome shot of the moon being held by the trees!! I love all of your photography actually. Halloween is starting to take off here in Australia, we see a few little people cruising up the streets hoping for sweets to nibble on.

    1. Thanks Anita!! It's getting cold here now...I would imagine the kids have to wear light costumes cause it's warm down there. I know that having the holidays during your summer is normal but I can't imagine hot weather. lol
