Frozen Water, Frozen Water, Infant

See what I did there?  (ice ice baby).  So we'd been in a horrible deep freeze for the past couple of weeks.  Last Thursday we had a pretty big wind/sleet/snowstorm with plummeting temps.  We've been bundled up and cranking the space heaters.  In fact, a day or so before the storm we decided we'd better try and hunt more of them down which of course was a bit problematic as everyone else had the same idea.  But we managed to find a couple nearby so we avoided the trip to Walmart.

Thing is, everything started freezing, even the salt water.  Sunday the 7th was our 7th anniversary of getting together and we decided we had to get out and take a drive.  As a side note, when I'm taking pictures and driving around, I generally go alone cause I know that I am a pain in the ass with, 'Oh! We need to turn around and go back! I have to shoot that [church, cemetery, old building, etc].  But Russell is the world's most patient person, doubling back if I ask him to, which I greatly appreciate.  He waits in the warm car while I do my thing.

We started out here in town checking out Electric Beach and Buttermilk Bay.

Then we crossed the bridge and checked out Monument Beach.  Also frozen!

Another icy inlet, in Cataumet.

Then we drove out to Scraggy Neck, one of my fave places to beach comb in the off season.  This is what it normally looks like.

And the other day.

Normal Scraggy Neck...looking towards Cleveland Ledge Light in Buzzards Bay.

Buzzards Bay frozen.  I'm not sure how far out the ice went but from this perspective, it looks like it goes all the way to the lighthouse!  I'm sure it didn't though.

Cleveland Ledge Light

Except for the sound of the skin-freezing wind, it was utterly silent.  No sound of water at all.

The cold really wasn't too horrible as long as the wind wasn't blowing.

Saw this adorable depot in Cataumet on the way home.

Directly across from the adorable post office.

Our last stop was the park in BBay to watch ice floating through the Canal.

I thought this was pretty impressive.  In a few days, I would be proven wrong.

Spring Fever?

I think spring fever is definitely setting in around here after a series of clear days that were in the 50s.  We're all hopeful that we've seen the end of the snow for the season.  It makes me feel like doing more stuff like socializing, crafting, baking and going for walks.  One of my friends spent a few lovely hours of laughs and chatting on a Sunday afternoon.  She said she felt like something cakey so I whipped up a batch of funfetti vanilla cupcakes with homemade cream cheese icing.  I sent her home with most of them cause I will EAT THEM ALL if they are in the house.  hahaha  I kept 2.

Beads were half off at Michael's so I picked up a few strands to match some new pendants.  My stepdaughter gave me two beautiful fairy pendants.  One is on this pretty coloured stone.

 And one on abalone.

This purple dyed druzy pendant is from Fire Mountain Gems.  It's a bit too big for me though.  I don't wear pendants that big.

I'm not only a sucker for all things celestial, I'm a sucker for Venetian glass.

I've been a bit lax on my stitching lately.  I started a cross stitch kit but I haven't worked on it in weeks.  But I did start this Zenbroidery pattern.  It's going to take awhile to finish this but it'll be pretty neat when it's done.

I'm using different kinds of floss/threads as well as beads and sequins.

We had 2 days of 70 degree weather!  It was so nice to feel the warm breeze.  I took Sagan out for a walk wearing shorts and a tshirt!  In February!!!!

Puppy enjoys all the sniffs.  So. Many. Sniffs.

From a distance, all I could see was the cross and I thought someone left their Halloween graveyard scene up.  When I got closer I was blown away.

Still trying to shake this exhaustion by forcing myself to get out.

October 2016

The fall is passing by so fast just like the rest of the year.  I haven't taken many foliage pictures because it seemed like it lasted a week.  Now the leaves are falling off the trees.  Buzzards Bay continues to disappoint me with the lack of seasonal spirit.  No scarecrows again this year.  Main Street at my end of town is still a disgrace with vacant and crumbling buildings.  Now the park is all torn up to be redone (supposedly better) which means no Christmas tree or decorations down there either.

Did everyone get out to see the beautiful, full Hunters Moon that was also a super moon?  A couple of days before it was completely full, I took the tripod outside and shot 16 pictures in different exposures.  The very last picture was 'the money shot'.  I did like how the moon looks like it's being held up by the tree.

I'm very happy with this shot.  It's so hard to get a good pic of the moon so I'm just going to call this 'good' and not keep trying to get 'the perfect picture' of it.  This one will do nicely.

Another pretty sunset.

I took this near where I grew up in E. Sandwich.  In an odd twist of fate, when I was checking my 'on this day' memories, I'd taken similar photos on the same date as these, in 2012.

Hoxie Pond

This is a couple of houses down from me.  They've done a great job with their Halloween decorations!

It's hard to believe that we are heading full bore into the holidays again.  I wish time would slow down a little!
