South Cape Beach and a Special, Fuzzy Friend!

Recently we had the opportunity to spend the day with Russell's old dog, Shadow!  I'm not going to go into the circumstances and story of why we didn't have Shadow, and it doesn't matter now cause we will be able to see her more often.  She's about 14 or 15 now and just a sweetheart.  

We met to pick her up at 8:30 and had her till 3.  Russell was sooo happy to see her! It had been over 7 years.

We took her first to South Cape Beach in Mashpee for a little walk.  Russell took her to the marshes side and I was back and forth taking pics of the beach and them. 

There were a couple of backhoes moving sand around so access to the beach that day was prohibited. Which was fine cause the wind was very cold and I could tell there was no beach glass anyway.  South Cape Beach is in Mashpee, where Vineyard Sound meets Nantucket Sound.

I was fascinated by the rippling water in this giant puddle from the rain the night before.

We took her back to our house and introduced Sagan to her.  

Goodest boi!  He was totally fine and for the most part, they ignored each other all day unless he got to close to her and she'd growl.

It's not clear if she remembered him but she chose to lay right here in front of our chairs.  Her owner gave us a backpack of her stuff so I put out her blankie and toy.  She made herself right at home and mostly snoozed.

She helped herself to the water dish and she scarfed down her lunch and some treats.

Seeing him so happy being reunited with her was sooooo awesome!!!!  

So soft and sweet!

Just have to share some recent pics of my sweet fuzzies.  I was making soup and had made it almost through the cutting up of chicken when I turned around to see this.  I never heard them come up behind me.  "Oh HAI!  We see you haz chikin.  We awso wike chikin."

April

Boy did April fly by! I cannot believe we are coming into summer already.  Well....calendar-wise. I'm not sure Ma Nature got the memo.  Some bulb flowers have bloomed, some trees have buds.  The month went by really fast.  It was April Blogging from A-Z and I had a hard time keeping up and I was a bad minion for Tina, basically bailing on my task(s) by the letter G.  It wasn't enjoyable for me at all, less so than last year. So this will be my last year participating other than as a commenter.  It got off to a horrible start, IMHO.  So many bloggers abjectly refused to turn off their CAPTCHA boxes.  One didn't have their comments enabled.  One blog was 'by invite only'.  Lots signed up and bailed.  Oh, another pet peeve:  "Read More".  No. Just No.  Not taking that extra step.  Have your whole blog post showing or don't even bother.  And I apologize to my friends on Wordpress, and I hate to sound exclusionary, but maybe they should split off and host their A-Z, and Blogger can have one too.  

We had a wicked storm all day on April 15th with high winds and rain coming down in sheets.  It lasted well into the night (can't believe power stayed on) and by 5:00 AM on April 16th, it had turned to ice.  Woke up to a skim coat of ice and snow, and big fluffy flakes coming down.  I grabbed my coffee, got on line and this was greeting me on my Facebook newsfeed.  I totally cracked up.

Earlier in the week, I'd spirited away my boots and heavy coat to the back room.  Luckily the sun was out by 8:30, the crap melted, but it remained extremely windy.

Gorgeous full moon on the 14th/15th.  There was a total lunar eclipse but at 3:00 AM I wasn't about to actively seek it out.

Me and the hubby visited the big flea market in Wareham one Saturday.  I got those small Easter figurines for .10 each.  So $1 for all 10!!  Couple watches and a tiny pagoda, and that whole thing of beads for just $2.50!!

I can't believe I spotted this amongst all the stuff that was in one of the booths.  I had a major league brainwave idea for this wee pagoda!

We don't observe Easter from a religious or egg hunt standpoint, but it was a really nice day so we took a walk on the Canal, went for ice cream at Canal Creamery and then browsed the Whatchamacallit Shop for a bit before heading home.  I took this pic in the ice cream store.  Their ice cream was really good too.  Lots of flavours to choose from.  I got oreo and Russell got black raspberry.  

I saw these lovely beaded and wired pentacles on Pinterest by Elemental Enchantments.  I love all of their work.  I decided to try and make one.

Well mine's somewhat warped because I had a hard time with the wire.  I used chop sticks which, of course, didn't lay very well because they had to be stacked at the tips.  I really had to wing it with this project and another 'only one will be made' items.  I started to regret starting but I also wanted to finish cause I hate unfinished projects and now it can be crossed off my 'Crafts to Make Bucket List', and maybe order a real one from Elemental Enchantments!  I gave this to my friend Sheila to give to her daughter Melody.

Other than that, just dealt with some nagging health issues.  My elbow is still giving me a ton of trouble.  I took too much advil and that caused some bad stomach pains.  My dad had ulcers when he was in his late 40s; I remember being really little and taken to see him in the hospital.  That meant I couldn't take anything for pain at all for a few days so the elbow flared up.  Also, taking a break from crafting was really difficult and that's just exacerbated things.  Bad headaches have also started to become a problem, as has back pain.  But my doctor is in Hyannis, which means all referral appointments would be there too and I'm just unwilling to keep having to drive there, esp. with spring and summer coming on.  I am hoping that I can get back to walking now that it appears that spring is indeed on the way.  I just can't believe the first 4 months of the year are over already!

Sunday, Sunday

March started off cold and icky.  I just cannot take much more of this crap.  It's gonna go from this to hot and humid with no spring at all, I just know it.  

I'd had the hubster home for a week, so my first day without him was really blah & lonely.  It was cloudy and grey.  I came home from dropping him off to find the bread bag on the floor.  It only had a couple slices in it, but I was careless and Sagan got it off the counter, but didn't get to eat anything because I got home so quickly. See how pleased he is with himself?  He tried to convince me that he had no idea how the bag got on the floor!  There's Pepper's little nose.  I'm sure she was in cahoots but of course played innocent too.

Then I was cornered against the counter by them till I bought my freedom with biscuits.  

This was a project I saw on Pinterest and I'd saved the picture quite awhile ago but never got around to making it.  Here is the Pinterest picture.  Whoever made this was able to draw their own TARDIS.  I, however, am not that talented.  Their canvas is also a bit bigger than mine was.  They used 32 crayons but I could only fit 23.

I first painted the canvas black, then hot glued blue, white & silver crayons to it for melting.  I'd printed a TARDIS picture off the internet and used thick foam double stick tape to attach it to the canvas, to give it a little 3D depth.  Not sure what I'll do with it....I wouldn't really call myself a Whovian, but I am enough 'in the know' of their fandom.  If Christopher Eccleston had remained on for a few seasons, I would definitely have gotten into it more, but he only did one season and I was gutted when he decided not to return.  His one season really left an impact on me, to the point where I will never be able to see a gas mask again without hearing that little boy's voice saying, 'Are you my mummy?'  *shudder*

Anyways, here's my version of it.  As they say in Pinterest-Land, "Nailed it."

I made the all important discovery that self adhesive rhinestones do not stick to metal at all well.  That meant removing nearly every single rhinestone in all the keys I already made, and re-adhere them with E6000.  It was time consuming and tedious, and so I only had time to make 3 new ones.  

I am wicked sick of eating cereal, cheese & crackers, sandwiches and canned soup.  So I made a couple quiches (one for freezing).  Spinach, onion, mushroom & feta.  

I'd also pinned a recipe for 'the perfect mac & cheese' from Picky Palate.  I'd never made a roux before and it came out pretty good.  I'll definitely make it again.  The recipe stopped after mixing the cheese sauce with the pasta, but I added panko and baked it for a bit, then turned on the broiler to brown it.

Overall, not a bad way to spend the day.
