Stormy Days and Crafts

The year is rapidly coming to a close and I wish time would slow down.

Shadow is still coming over but she's starting to fail really fast which is heart breaking.  Russell had just finished giving her a bath and she was fast asleep under the blanket.

We had one afternoon of really unusual weather for this area.  There were a couple of water spouts in the Canal which I didn't get pics of.  Some people got awesome video of them though and it was a sight to see.  There was a small tornado that night too about an hour northwest of us.  At our house we had thunder and a torrential downpour of ice pellets.  That's one splashing off the table.

Scary!!!!!

My daughter in law is soooo subtle.  😆

Like I'm gonna turn down that request!!!  PB fudge for Casi.

Hagrid's Hut metal model by Fascinations Metal Earth.  This one had so many teeny tiny pieces.  Took about 4 days to build.  I have to keep stopping when I get frustrated.

Finished my Hogwarts Starry Night diamond painting.  I love it.

I got this latch hook kit a few months ago.  It was intimidated by the size and was afraid I forgot how to do it.  I managed one row during the summer and took it to OH to work on in the hotel, but it never left the truck the whole time we were there.  I finally decided to do it and it took about a week of hours each day.  Once I got going, it went so much faster.  We had a nor'easter stormy day and I spent the entire day in my craft room working on this.  Thank god for You Tube for the refresher in latch hooking.  Now I need to find a pillow to stuff inside.  The back is already attached so I don't have to sew anything.

Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween!  Bring on Thanksgiving!!!

More Sandwich Glassing

We're rapidly marching towards summer with the first 6 months of the year just about gone.  We're dog sitting Shadow every week for 2 days which we love.  She's such a goofy little diva.

Sagan's still not digging our house guest much, but they've made somewhat of a truce.

More visits from the local bun.

One late Sunday afternoon we headed over to Pocasset to see if it would be worth trying to dig for quahogs but it was way too cold.

Took a drive into Sandwich a few times and veered off so I could get some pics.

We had a super low tide a week or so ago, and Russell took me 'Sandwich glassing' in the exposed marshes.  The mud was way too sticky and deep to venture very far and I wasn't prepared with extra footwear or towels in the car, so just had to stick to the part closest to land.

If I had waders or shoes I didn't care about, I would love to go out in that and see if there's any glass.

I had some great finds though.

The amber, yellow and white/red are the best.

This isn't Sandwich glass but I liked them so I snagged them.  The green bottle bottom is Canada Dry gingerale but I don't know how old it is.  I haven't seen pop in glass bottles in many years.  The white thing is some kind of old fashioned wire insulator.

Teal, green and black.

Another day we swung down to the marina and canal.

Easter & A New Grandson

TA-DA!  He's here!

The day before was Russell's birthday and I'd been teasing Casi for months that she was gonna have the baby early, on or near his birthday.  She'd had a doc appt that day and messaged me that she fell out of the car in the parking lot and hit her knee really bad but they had her under observation for a few hours.  I told her that I was surprised her water didn't break and that I'd be willing to bet that this fall would get things moving.  Sure enough, her water broke about 8 hours later.

I'd told her to make sure they called us and I didn't care what time it was.  So I'm sleeping and hear my phone ring.  It's 2:30AM.  It never occurred to me it was Casi.  So half asleep I answered and didn't understand a word the person said so I go, 'you've got the wrong number'.  I hung up and saw I had a text so I checked it and it was from Casi, 'Joanne my water broke'.  I immediately called her back and boy did we have a good laugh!  Her labor was pretty easy and he was born at 1:15 in the afternoon.

I finished the birthstone key I made for them too.

I finished ours too, which contains all the stones of all the kids and their partners.

Mark had a few problems a few hours after he was born.  They think he aspirated amniotic fluid on the way out so he was on a CPAP, oxygen, a feeding tube and IV antibiotics.  Fortunately the problems started clearing up quickly and he's now eating like a champ.  He was able to go home a couple of days ago.

Been dying to egg Val's house for over a year.  I wanted to do this last Easter but she'd had surgery and couldn't keep bending over to gather them.  Russell & I started buying dollar store trinkets a few months ago.  We got up at 6AM on Easter Sunday and headed to her house.  We were stealthy...plus she was still sleeping.

We were home by 7 and I waited for her to finally wake up and discover what we did.  I wanted to keep it a secret but it was getting late and I knew she had to leave for work so I ended up nudging her to go look.  This was her post.

We also had Shadow overnight that weekend.  She's so cute.  She grabbed one of Sagan's toys to bring to bed.  First time she's ever done that here.

Silly boy was a bit jealous and VERY clingy when she was here.  I took this before we left to bring Shadow home.  Not sure why he was standing on the couch looking at my computer.

My friend Cathy surprised me with this bracelet made for me by her 12 year old grandson!  A few years ago I made him a Minion from a kinder surprise egg pod and he wanted to make something for me.  I just love it and am so touched he thought of me and did something in colours he knew I'd love.

She also sent me this Snitch kit she found!  Can't wait to put it together!!!

Had Shadow again.  To say we spoil her as much as Sagan is an understatement.  She woke from a nap and took her lunch en suite.

"Thanks Food Lady!"  She comes to me when she wants food.  It's hilarious.

When she was done, she nudged the dish off her bed onto the floor and went back to sleep.

Winter's still hanging on for dear life with mix rain and snow in the forecast quite a bit.  Hoping for spring temps soon so we can get out again!

Puppers & Projects

I was not cut out for adulting.  It's really not working out for me at all. I'm just hoping that there's a light at the end of the tunnel, and that it's not a train.  Valentines Day was quiet.  It's been a fairly snow-free winter.  If we can get through this month, we'll be home free.  Yes we can get a blizzard in March but it won't last long.

We're still dog sitting from time to time which is awesome. Shadow is such a sweetheart.

But she doesn't like it when Sagan sniffs her and gets 'all up in her business' and she will bark and snap at him.

But we did have some really bad news about Sagan.  He was sick so we took him to the vet and tests showed a mass behind his stomach.  That was a very, very bad day.  They gave us some medicine for him and he's doing really well.  He'll be 13 next month and I will not put him through further tests and/or a biopsy, because surgery to remove it isn't an option.  Not at his age.  Just loving on him and making him comfortable.  You'd never know he had this tumour now that he's better.

We got her a bed.  Isn't she adorable?  She was watching Russell eat his salad and giving him the sad eyes.

"But you has foods and I has NO foods."

I've saved some free cross stitch patterns so decided to tackle a couple.  I love how the Hogwarts crest came out.

There's something about this design that really speaks to me.  This was a quick 3-day project.

Finally got around to mounting the wood burned Harry Potter signs to a piece of driftwood.  That'll go in the yard this spring, since we found out we can stay here again this coming year.

This freakin metal Hogwarts train is gonna be the death of me.  I have about 12 pieces left to go.  The directions were pretty good at first but they seemed to slack off towards the end here.

Another wind chime I did in a spiral circle.

I had a dream that I went shopping at Five Below, so I decided to shopping at Five Below.  I love that store.  Way better than Dollar General.  I could buy the entire store but I didn't.  I was so excited to find this sparkly mermaid pillow that was multicoloured.  It's the prettiest one I've ever seen.  I tried to draw a heart on it to show the back side of the sequins.

It's not the best quality and it was $5, but I just can't resist a fringed purse.

My new fave animal is the possum.  I've been following some pages on Facebook and they are just the cutest things.  So I couldn't resist these plushies, which I named Sesame and Lucky, after my two faves.

Because I'm a sucker for punishment, I got more metal kits.  These appear to be easier than the train. I probably should've started with the TARDIS before jumping in with both feet.

It should be noted that I have a fairly bad pain in my right thumb from stitching.  I hate to take a break from it but I may be forced to.  I hope things over the next week or so go ok cause I really and truly need a break.  I am mentally exhausted and emotionally drained.
