Busy Summer!

Due to the fantastic weather up here this summer, just for a change, and our wedding, I've now gotten WAY behind on my day trip & life-in-general posts.  A lot of people have been complaining about how cool it's been but I've been absolutely delighted with the temperature.  Oddly, the Pacific Northwest has been pretty much frying off and on all summer with terrible fires in Eastern WA, OR and in Idaho.  Even the rainy days have been sporadic and only a couple of thunderstorms, which is good because I don't like them and my dogs like them even less.

It was a bit stormy this late afternoon though, with tons of hail that fell in some towns on the Cape but not at our house.

The day I went into Sandwich to get my hair cut and coloured, I had a chance to walk around a little bit near the salon, Classy Cuts.  These dog statues are near a vet's office.  So cute with their hat and snorkel!

I met my cousin Diane for lunch one day and then we went for a cone at Twin Acres.  I never noticed their weathervane before! 

In addition, several other friends visited in August!  When Mary got to town, a group of us went to lunch at Bobby Byrnes one Saturday, although I only took this pic of Russell & his 'little sister'. (she was standing on a chair).

Plus I got to take two more items off the local bucket list when I visited Scituate when JoLisa was here from South Dakota, and Salem with Moriah & Bruce who were visiting from Canada! Although those day trips occurred a couple of weeks ago, I will be posting the pics over the next few days. August...and the whole summer....just flew by!

July Randomness

The humidity has been almost nonstop, with only one day of cool and comfortable temperatures.  So I've been hiding in the house for the most part.  

Oh I thought this was kind of an amusing anecdote.  One of the craft-themed FB pages I follow asked a question over the weekend, 'Who would play you in the movie of your life?'.  I read it out loud and pondered it for a second before deciding to type 'Tatum O'Neal' into the comments.  Without missing a beat, Russell says, 'Cyndi Lauper.'  OK, first of all, he gets major props for being aware of who Cyndi Lauper is, because he is not a music fan at all. Second, I took it as a huge compliment because I admire Cyndi's colourful individuality and wackiness.

We had some real steamy, rainy afternoons.  It's not uncommon for a late afternoon/early evening thunderstorm to crop up in this kind of weather. 

I hope I can get to these before the birds do.

That's a teensy snail on a branch, inside a water droplet that's reflecting my house.  We have a lot of snails in our yard of varying sizes.  I know they are a pest but I do like them.  I always think of the lyrics to the Donovan song, 'There is a mountain':  "The lock upon my garden gate's a snail, that's what it is".

Found inside one of the many fortune cookies we got over 4th of July.  Hmmmmm

I started a new colouring book called 'Out of This World Designs', using my new set of gel pens.  Also used were Prismacolour pencils and rhinestones.  

Liz had to go and mention that she made blueberry crisp, and I marched into the kitchen to make one too.  It was yummy. Soooo very yummy.

We haven't had many decent sunsets so far but one night revealed a lovely half moon and sunset.

I Love Fall!!

The annual Buzzards Bay Scallop Festival was held last weekend.  I didn't really want to go because of the extra cost and besides, I'm allergic to shellfish.  But I did have to go to the bank over that weekend and rather than try to fight to find a parking space, I walked down from the house.  First passed this festive minivan in one of the parking lots.  

Not sure if they were enthusiastic tourists or residents, but clearly they love it here and they are against the wind farms.

Most of the antique shops had some of their wares out on the sidewalk.

Soooo tempted to buy this one but I took a snappy instead.  I love how it looks old, but includes the World Series wins of 2004 and 2007.

Town was just a tad on the crowded side.

I can't wait to stroll down Main Street again this year and see if anyone has decorations out! This was a positive sign!
