We talked about maybe going apple picking this fall so one Sunday we headed to Keith's Farm Stand in Acushnet. When we got there we decided we didn't really know what we'd do with a ton of apples (we loved crisps and pies but neither of us needs to be eating that stuff!!!). So we wandered around and got some apple cider donuts that were delish.
Love Indian corn.
Nasty buggers!
There's a sawmill on the property and it looks like it's operational, not just for show.
I think the sawmill was Russell's fave part of the outing.
Lots of apples though!
Hayride around the farm
On the way out, we stopped at a couple of butcher shops, one of which was across the street from the Rochester Firefighter's Memorial.
We also stopped at Plumb's Corner Market to check out their meats as well. We stumbled on a chicken wing bar that smelled so amazing, we had to get some of the teriyaki wings and they were delicious!!!! Definitely worth driving up there for those bad boys! Russell also got their sausages w/ onions and peppers and loved that too.
i miss my chickies.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to get some chickens one of these days. Probably next summer.
Deletefall is flourishing up your way. Indian corn! Hadn't seen that since back East.
ReplyDeleteThe foliage should start to get really good next week. It's already gorgeous in North/Central Maine.
DeleteThere are lots of things you can do with apples, apart from apple crisps JoJo. Pity you didn't at least pick a few.
ReplyDeleteI probably could've made apple sauce but I couldn't think of anything else to do with them. We're not 'apples in salad' people either.
DeleteLOVE APPLE PICKING!!!! Think applesauce for the leftovers-you can control the amount of sugar! (freezes so well)
ReplyDeleteI didn't even think of it. lol
