Russell's Corner has been at Jarves Street x Route 6A time out of mind, in Sandwich. Here's a really old picture when it was the original meat market & grocery store. Judging by the cars I'd say this was taken in the 50s or early 60s.
Naturally, I've been threatening to take Russell's picture under the sign ever since I moved back. I finally had both him and my camera in the car one day and as we were traveling down 6A, the following conversation occurred:
Me: Hey! I just realized! I wanna take that pic of you at Russell's Corner!
Him: No.
Me: Yes.
Him: HELL no.
Me: Yes. Oh this is soooo happening
*pulling into the parking lot*
Me: This is gonna be so great! Come on.
Him: .......
*walking to the corner*
Me: Now stand right there and smile!
Him: .......
Me: *laughing*Me: Ok now we have to get the pic of you making the Cape Cod with your arm with that other sign around the corner.
Him: *sigh*
Me: Now do the Cape Cod.....NO! That's Walk Like an Egyptian. Do the Cape Cod!
Him: "It's a good thing I love you so much"
Needless to say he was like....
Poor Russell. You were bullying him JoJo. Like the pictures though.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!! Not really....his kids got a huge kick out of the pictures and that's what I was going for. I just can't believe that in all this time before I moved back, no one else ever thought to take a pic of him under the signs.
DeleteAwwwww... but it's HIS CORNER. He had to have a pic there!
ReplyDeleteI know right????? lol
DeleteThat's funny! He did give in and the last one is a happy shot! Think I like Russell! :-)
ReplyDeleteHe's a riot but I don't think he would've done this for anyone else. lmao
DeleteAnd the results are marvelous! Tell your hubs we appreciate his cooperation for 'art's sake'. I once found a street with my first name on it near my old high school. I called it my street. It was short, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! lol He just rolled his eyes when I posted them on Facebook but I think secretly deep down he enjoyed the comments it got, esp. his two sons cracking up laughing.
DeleteHaha, love his look! You are so good to stop and take a picture anyway, In my book, if there's not a picture, it didn't happen!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of Mt. Rainer
Have a good week
Saimi
Thanks Saimi! Yeah his look says it all! hahaha And thank you for the kind words on the Rainier pic. Those were the coolest lenticular clouds I ever saw.
DeleteRussel seems like a wonderful soul :)
ReplyDeleteHe is. He's the love of my life. Once you get past that hard candy coating, he's a mush. lol
DeleteLove conquers all. Fun pics and story. Secretly he is amused
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanne! yes, he was definitely amused enough to humour me. :D
DeleteHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! He just looks SO thrilled to be doing all of that JoJo! Omgosh. This makes me laugh so much and reminds me of all the times I made my kids take pictures here there n' everywhere. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so grateful that he's a good sport. hahahaha
DeleteThis is great. About time he owned it.
ReplyDeleteT
Thanks! I think he's just glad I got this out of my system. lol
