I cannot believe it's been 10 years since I started this blog, on July 6, 2006. My very first post is HERE. Figures it'd be about Bigfoot. hahaha When I first started it, I was just going to feature pics of my fave actor, Vincent D'Onofrio. I'd met a group of fellow fans on a chat blog and we dubbed ourselves the "Vincent Vixens". The chat blog would always bog down and be hard to load because we were all talking on it so much, so we all decided to start our own blogs, and we could interact that way. Some of the women really did a fantastic job with slide shows and videos and stuff, so I changed the direction of my blog to be about my life and travels. Sadly, most of my fellow Vixen fans have abandoned the blogosphere. The good news is we are all friends on Facebook now so we still chat with each other there, or via emails sometimes.
What's so weird for me is to think about all that's happened in the last 10 years. On July 6, 2006, I definitely did not think I would be back here on July 6, 2016. My boss Robyn was still at our office....she was sworn in as a Court Commissioner that fall of 06. I was about to go on vacation to Vancouver BC in August. I never in a million years would've believed that I'd be back on the east coast married to the love of my life in less than 10 years. It's mindblowing.
In the days prior to Facebook, blogging was the only other way to keep in touch with friends and family without having to hand write letters or send copious emails. It was just easier to update your life in one place so that people could read it at their leisure.
Finally, I probably would've quit years ago if I didn't have such a loyal readership. I really appreciate everyone who reads and comments on my posts, so a big thank you to all you guys out there for your support.

Wow! Thinking back to ten years, it really is amazing how much has changed. Your first post is great. I love it, it really made me smile. And days prior to Facebook? How did we survive? :P
ReplyDeleteThanks Elsie!!! How DID we survive w/o internet at all??? How did I research? I'm constantly researching, every day. Thank god for Facebook and the blogs though!
DeleteCongrats, JoJo for your tenacity and keeping us amused for such a long time. I started blogging in 2008 but I've never been as frequent a blogger as you are! We never know what five or ten years will bring, but they do go past fast.
ReplyDeleteThey've gone by lightning fast. I also realized that I wasn't shooting digital yet either, in July 2006. I brought my camera with me to Vancouver but I chickened out on using it so I shot film. I really need a digital photography do over of that trip.
DeleteIt's always interesting to have a little look down memory lane. Indeed, how many changes these last 10 years have seen!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to believe I've published so much stuff. I took my longest break in 2009 which was a horrible year in my personal life.
DeleteCongratulations on your 10 year blogiversary! What would we do without our internet? I can't imagine it now. Here's wishing you another 10 years!
ReplyDeleteThanks SJ! Things seem to be slowing down here cause I haven't taken near as many day trips as I'd hoped to this year. Life had different ideas for the month of June and now it's too hot, humid and crowded to try and drive anywhere.
DeleteI can never remember when I started blogging, have to look it up every time. Congratulations on your blogiversary. I think one of the strong points of your blog, for me anyway, is the wonderful photos you post of the delightful areas where you live.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo! I need to get out shooting again. Things have been so crazy.
DeleteHappy, Happy Blogiversary! May you continue to glean pleasure and friendship from your blog. I still love my blogs, too. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa! I do enjoy it when I have something to talk about. My husband doesn't like me really sharing in depth details of my and our life. lol
Deletecongrats on 10 years. You have to keep going since I just found you. Love your photos and posts so far. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you Joanne! Oh I'll keep going. I do enjoy it! I need to hit the road for a day trip so I can get shooting again.
Deletewow 10 years? happy Blogoversary! I have lost track of how long I've been blogging. 5, perhaps 6 years? can't remember .... sign of the times - ha!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It only occurred to me a month ago that it was 10 years...I remember starting the summer of 06 but I had to look up the date.
DeleteHappy Blog anniversary.ten years wow!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne! Time's gone by so fast.
DeleteWOW! Happy Blogoversary!! That's wild reading your first post now to all these years later. So happy you're so happy living your happily-ever-after with Russell. :) Here's to many, many more!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mimi!!!!!!
DeleteCongrats on keeping this going for 10 years!! What an accomplishment. And isn't it truly wonderful to marvel at all that has happened in 10 years!! Here's to 10 more!
ReplyDeleteThank you Amy!! :D
