Simply a Spiffing Spring

The flowers are blooming and everything looks and smells so awesome, finally.  I didn't think these days would ever come.  I truly thought the snow would be around till June.

This is a dogwood in our yard.

Also in my yard, no idea what they are but they are a pretty shade of light purple.

Pretty pink bush next to the driveway.

My only complaint with lilacs is that they just don't last long enough!  The yard smelled delicious.

Another pretty pink flowered bush.

Another shot of the pink one on the driveway.

We have quite a bank of lilacs on the one side of the yard.  Love them so much.

I don't know what these are.....I love them.  This is in a neighbour's front yard.

Walked from my house down to the Canal and as far as the half mile marker and back.  Probably a good 3 mile walk total.

This is new....it was built last fall.

Back in the park downtown.  This statue is called The Fisherman.

I don't know what these pink trees are called but they are gorgeous.

More neighbourhood flowers.

  1. Lovely photos and beautiful place to walk! The pink bush looks like an azalea, your neighbor's flowers are likely impatiens and the flowering tree is probably a cherry (cherry usually is pink, where apple is white .. but there are variations on that).

    1. Thank you! I think you're right about the flowers. I can't keep any plants alive so these just grow naturally in the yard. I don't do anything to them!

  2. Talk about a sudden burst of life and color. WOW! And aren't you glad the snow didn't last until June. Cross our fingers.

    1. I truly thought the huge snow plow piles would stick around. I went up to Mt. Rainier in July of 2010 and there was still a ton of snow in the parking lots despite being very hot in June and July. That's why I figured these wouldn't melt either. Of course I was also at a 6,000 elevation up there so that may be why the snow was slower to melt.

    1. Yes it's very pretty here but I am woefully behind on day trips and walks. The days are flying by and I just can't seem to find the time.

  4. Beautiful. Some of those ground covering flowers look like Flox to me. Too early for Impatiens I believe.

    1. Thanks! You know I think someone told me that those were phlox a year or so ago. Unfortunately my brain doesn't retain details like that.
