Annual Decorations in Town

Our weather temps have been very erratic.  One day it's ice cold, the next it's mild.  We've had dustings of snow and torrential downpours with wind.  Hardly conducive to taking walks!  But I did get downtown one sunny, cold morning to get some snappies of the decorations in the daylight.  Am hoping to take night shots when the lights are on.  

This is at a neighbour's house.



The rotary at my end of town. Hard to see but there's a scrawny little tree between Charlie & Woodstock.

So many pretty lights!




This is at Bay Village service station across from the rotary on Main Street.


In the park at the train bridge.

You can take the gingerbread faces out and put your own face in the holes.  I'm not sure why the dad gingerbread man looks so evil.














I hope to get down to the other end of town soon to shoot their decorations as well as the other rotary.

    Hi JoJo!!

    Thanks for letting me know. That is such a shame! I'm trying to get back into blogging but it's just so difficult when my blogspot one never works right and the other sites I try just aren't the same! I'll look into the nickname thing, I used a comment app for comments, so maybe there's a better one I can use :)

    I hope you're doing well. I've been living in the US for 3 months now and have got engaged :) I'm currently working on my visa forms so that I can hopefully continue to live here :)

      Oh believe me, after I got home from this shoot, I opined on FB how ridiculous it is that no one can say Merry Christmas anymore w/o a stink being raised. And I'm an atheist/pagan too and I see nothing wrong with it.

      I know the woman that owns that store in the last pic....right after I shot that I went inside and chatted with her for about 20 minutes too. She's got a lot of nice things. I could drop a lot of cash in there but I have no room! lol

    Hi JoJo, have spent the last half hour catching up on your blog posts :) Have been loving what you've been making lately. I have been thinking of doing the wrapped bangles - one for each colour of the chakras, but if it takes 2 hours to cover one I'm thinking that ideas going to the bottom of the to-do pile!

    Must admit it also struck me there was no Happy Christmas - I mean it is the reason for everyone having the holiday. We have the same problem over here - small minded people in charge that don't want to offend, but the irony is no one is offended! Makes my blood boil! xx

      Thanks Suzanne!! It took 2 hours to do all of them....about 10-15 minutes per bracelet. If you are doing just one skein it's not too bad, just tedious and time consuming. That red/black one was a real pain trying to use 2 skeins.

      I swear it's 'my' generation, the ones that grew up in the 70s and 80s with decorations in school and 'Merry Christmas' being said. We've turned into a bunch of whiners, complainers and with a sense of entitlement. I'm really sick of it.

    Wow, your town really goes all out! I doubt I've ever seen so many wooden decorations all in one place before. Our city is all about the lights; after all, we are officially "The Christmas Capital of Canada"!
