Scarecrows of BBay

Just a sampling of the many scarecrows that did indeed show up in mid-October.

I thought this one was a hoot, but my squeeze opined that he'd rather have seen this in a boobie cleavage presentation.

Wow!  Who knew?  I've seen the Canal very high before in storms, but I had no idea it flooded downtown BBay in 1938.

This one's really kinda sick.  I was wondering about who actually had this gear in their closet for this scarecrow.  Or did they buy it just for this purpose?  Maybe I don't wanna know!!!

This cop ain't goin' anywhere fast on those short legs!

  1. OMG scarecrows seem to be a big deal round your way. I'd be hard pressed to find two.

Best scarecrows ever! I especially love the firemen climbing up the building - adorable!

It's a tough call, but I think 'Pumpkin Plumbing' is my favourite

  4. This makes me sad. When I was a kid we used to make a Guy - some of dad's old clothes stuffed with newspaper, the head a stuffed stocking with a Guy Fawkes mask, and we'd put him in a pushchair (stroller) and take him round asking for a "penny for the Guy". We'd spend the money we collected on fireworks for Guy Fawkes night, November 5th, when we would have a bonfire party, burn the Guy and let off the fireworks. Every store had the masks, especially Woolworths. Now Woolies is gone, kids don't know who Guy Fawkes was, and they dress up in cheap and nasty plastic Halloween outfits to go round the houses mugging people for sweets.

This is so creative. I'm jealous.

  6. Some very original and clever scarecrows. Love the mermaid !

Too bad the one of Edward Scissorhands had to be gory. I always liked that movie and the character was so caring and gentle, it was hard not to feel compassion for him. I guess the scarecrow's creator felt they had already done so many Freddy Krueger (Nightmare on Elm Street) that they had to come up with something different. :)
