Beautiful Fall!

The leaves started changing close to the end of September, which seems to me to be a bit early.  Everything is going into fall mode and it's pretty!

Pokeberries which are very poisonous to pets and people, and my yard is full of them.  Luckily my dogs show no interest in them and they haven't been a problem.

We went to Hyannis one day for lunch and I spotted this in the median strip at a stop light.  It says, 'A man name Charles Osborne had the hiccups for 60 years!'  

We ate at the Brazilian Grill, on Main Street Hyannis.  It was really good.  Their buffet/salad bar is awesome, and they also bring all kinds of meat around to your table and slice piece off for you.

September came to a close with some very warm days.  I went for a short walk downtown on one of those days.  For some reason the 80 degrees felt more uncomfortable in September than it did in July.

Still Learning

I think, for the time being, I am going to be letting the camera shoot in auto-mode, correcting for everything under the sun, until I can figure out how to take great shots by using all the settings.  

So here's a pic of a jar full of the glass bits I took home from McDermott Glass.

I found the glass pumpkin jar at the junk/antique shop, Rust Ed, and it fit all but the largest pieces.

Hints of fall starting to show up!

The colour in the chimes I got in the spring really faded in the summer sun.

It should be noted that I got in quite a few day trips plus our annual trip to King Richard's Faire - and this time we took the kids - so posts will be somewhat rapid fire.  I'm waiting for the inevitable message from Blogger that I've reached my Picasa album limit unless I buy more space.  Last year it happened in late November.  lol  The weather has been absolutely amazing so I'm back to beachcombing and exploring.

Also in E. Sandwich.  As of the date of this photo, which was 10/3, it was the only tree with full on brilliant colour, which especially stood out on an otherwise grey day.  I was driving when I saw this fiery maple, and I may have slowed the car down somewhat abruptly in order to turn around at the next driveway I saw in order to go back and take photos.

I don't think I've seen a tree this bright in years.

Never seen anything like these before!

On the way through town I detoured to take some pics of this old building that burned the weekend of 10/1. It has been an eyesore for years, since before I moved in 1989, so you can only imagine what it looked like to me 22 years later.  I meant to stop over the summer and shoot it but never did.  

Apparently the state of this building has been a bone of contention between the owners and the town government. The plan was to tear this down and rebuild a multi-use condo/office building.  The project stalled out.  And suddenly it "accidentally" burns down on a very, very rainy night.  Everyone, and I do mean everyone, knows it was burned down on purpose.  Upon hearing the news and seeing the pics the next day, I believe my words were, "How convenient."

Back in BBay, I took a drive down Main Street to see if anyone had decorated.  Sadly, I found only a couple of fall-themed items.  I'm hoping that more appear in town as the month goes on.
