Makepeace Farms in Wareham hosted the 13th annual Cranberry Harvest Festival on October 8 and 9. I met up with Sheila and her son and we had a good time walking around, eating free samples and fresh apple cider donuts.
They do such a nice job of making the place fun for everyone and very picturesque.
Canoes and swan or duck paddleboats were available to rent.
Lots of cranberries for sale!
Here's a bike where you have to work for your smoothie drink!
Small playground for the kids.
Did you know that Ocean Spray was based here?
I did a double take cause I thought the Ocean Spray guys were really looking out the window!
Up next is the bog harvest.
Ooooooh!! I have been dying to get out to this festival!! Unfortunately I often have to work on the weekends, but one of these years, I'm totally going to go!!
ReplyDeleteIt's worth it. I'm glad I went and hope to go next year. But it was soooooo crowded. I couldn't believe so many people showed up. Of course the following day was a torrential rainstorm so that's probably why.
Deletewowwww!!! What a fun day.. the place is son beautiful and picturesque... I love the smoothie bike.. :)
ReplyDeleteWait till you see the pictures of the harvest itself! That is really cool to watch.
DeleteI would have loved that place.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty neat to see it all. The next set of pics are of the harvest itself. So many people from different states and countries have no idea how cranberries are grown. My friends in California thought they grew on trees or bushes.
DeleteI so want to be there! I would've totally gone to this festival. I love cranberries too. - Those painted hay stacks are cool too!
ReplyDeleteYou would love it. New England in the fall has so much to offer.
DeleteWhat a wonderful day yous pent there! Glad you managed to go out :) All the harvest related decorations are so fun!
ReplyDeleteIt was a beautiful day too. Nice and cool, and sunny. It was a lot of fun. Next year I will stay longer!
