I've just had way too much stuff sitting on the craft table for far too long, so I continue to move things along. There's been a matchbox on the table for at least 3 years now. I finally decided to do something with it. I'm not really sure why the India-theme came to mind, but in an odd twist of fate, as I was covering the box with paper, I noticed in small print it said 'made in India' on the side.
Glass painted mini jar
Not sure where this faux crystal bottle topper came from, but there was no way to use it hanging in a window. I wasn't going to attempt to drill through that 1/2" thick, rock hard plastic. The only real solution I could come up with was peyote stitching around it so that I could add a loop at the top. I'm not that good at peyote, but I do it every now and then just to keep in practice. Then added beaded hanger.
I can see 9 more projects hiding in plain sight, that need to be done...and by the time this publishes, hopefully more will be completed. But it's nice to have things tidy for a change, although it's oddly unsettling.
Love your ideas. Like the bottle stopper. Reminds me to bring out some peyote to do also as I always forget how to do it. Have a good day. LJ
ReplyDeleteThanks Lady Jane! Yeah I don't do peyote often...my flat peyote is awful. I haven't practiced it very much. The circular is easier for me but it's not something I enjoy. Seed beads are too tedious.
DeleteHey JoJo,
ReplyDeleteYour ingenuity always amazes me. I'm thinking of decorating the dog. Yes, I'm kidding! :)
Seriously, you are one talented lady.
Gary
Thank you so much Gary. :) The need to create is bordering on a real sickness but I do enjoy it.
DeleteHi Jojo!
ReplyDeleteI liked your Indian theme shadow box (is it?). It came out very pretty!
As well the painted glass jar... did you use special paints for glass? I have one kit and I hope it hasn't got spoiled by now, need to use it asap.
The interesting project with glass bottle topper... where are you going to place it?
Have fun and looking forward to more of your beautiful projects!
Anna
Hi Anna! Thank you so much! My friend Marsha ended up taking the Indian themed matchbox because one of her friends loves all things India. I knew this would get lost among my other knick knacks so I figured it should go to someone who would find a nice place for it.
DeleteI use Gallery Glass paints for my projects. Martha Stewart has a line of glass paints but I am unimpressed with her products. Give yours a try!
Not sure where I'll put that bottle stopper. I'll probably either try to see it or give it away.
An empty looking craft table is unsettling, haha, love all your creations especially the matchbox! phyllis
ReplyDeleteThanks Phyllis! I actually got a text from Russell when he saw the clean craft table pic on FB, 'who are you and what have you done to my wife'. hahahaha
