King Richard's Faire, Part 1

We took our annual family trip to King Richard's Faire in Carver, MA last weekend!  Nice day but the sun was hot.  Thank goodness the grounds are very shady.  We got a great deal on the tickets through Groupon, too.

Lots and lots of cosplay...and not all medieval/middle ages-related.

This guy had a bar code tattooed on the back of his head.  I wonder what it would scan as?

Things that make you go, 'Hmmm....'  A wandering minstrel with an alien drum.

Her seal puppet was just tooooooo cute!

Entertainment as we waited for the gates to open.

The Washer Wenches.  We'd never seen their show before so we made it a point to go this year!

I sure hope he had underbritches on.

The love of my life happily consuming a turkey leg and Coors Light.  He was talking about this for the past two weeks.

Hard to see but those are fairy wings.

They were soooooo funny!!!!!  Great show!

    1. Yes, King Richards has been around at least since the late 80s, but I was in California by then. Russell & I have gone every year since I moved back, but started w/ the kids 3 years ago. If you like to people watch, this is the place to do it.

    1. It's funny but Russell thinks that's a woman too but I think it's a guy. The cosplay at this fair is not terribly medieval at all....We saw a few people dressed up like animals.

  3. So much fun. I miss the Renaissance Faire. The photo of Russell with his manly snack and a tie-dyed shirt made me smile.

    1. That tie dye was a little bit snug on him and he got really hot in it too. By the time we sat down for the washer women show, he'd decided he needed a 'blimp sized one' and went off in search of something larger. He got a grey King Richards Faire souvenir shirt instead. lol

Did you ever go to the one in Novato in the 90s? Or had it closed when you got to Alameda?

Omg, how do you get through that faire without walking out of the gates broke?? I would be buying eeevvverything! I used to take my kids to the Renaissance Festival in Michigan every year. Oddly enough, Boise doesn't have a faire of any kind and I wish they did.

    1. Once you saw the prices you wouldn't walk out of the gate with anything. lol We bought a pewter and glass goblet for our collection - that was $60. I bought a tiara, that was $40. The food alone is insanely expensive. One turkey leg and one beer is $21.
