Animal Colouring Designs

A couple of years ago I found some really cool and free Animals of the World colouring designs online, from Louise Elliott Design's website, found HERE.  They look very 60's'ish to me so I've been trying to colour them that way.

I have, or at least used to have, a small wooden horse from Sweden that was painted red.  That's why I did this horse red.

I coloured the llama dark blue before I realized that the Huichol colours I had chosen are Mexican and not Peruvian.  Oh well.

I tried to do the English cats in blue and red like Wedgwood, but I could not match the blue at all...that was the closest I could get with my markers.  I find the most challenging part of these designs are the birds and butterflies.  I'm so tired of looking up what birds look like so that I can at least try to get their colours right.

  1. Are all the patterns on the animals there when you start? They do make some attractive pictures but no, you didn't manage the Wedgewood Blue. I especially like the horse.

    1. Yes, all the patterns are on the animals. Yeah my blues were either too bright or too dark. I couldn't match Wedgewood at all. Oh well....I tried.

I love them! Especially the pink elephant. So cute. I must say, you color perfectly. Every line is perfect. If it were me, I'd be outside the lines and totally sloppy! Well done.

    1. Thanks! I use very fine point markers for this detail work. My major issue with these is that I have an ink jet printer so the second the marker touches the black ink, the blank ink dissolves into the colour. It's a lot of detail work.

  5. I knew the concept was "1960s colors" the instant I set eyes on the lion!

These are gorgeous. Ironically, my favorite is probably the llama, though the camel and tiger run it a close second.

Blue cat is more a Tiffany cat, I think. Red cat is extremely handsome.

    1. Thank you so much! They are fun to do, there's no doubt! Yes I agree, blue cat is more Tiffany than Wedgewood. If Tiffany is British then I guess that would work too.
