Either spelling is accepted. One gorgeous day near the end of August, I headed out to Harwichport to both check out the town and take the Monomoy Island Excursions 90 minute boat trip to see the seals, North Monomoy Island and the most southern part of Chatham. Of course I shot over 100 pics on the trip so those will come later! See map below.
Finding parking was a real pain but I was able to park at this store, called Sativa. There were so many different rooms...the store seemed to go on forever! Great stuff.
Augustus Snow House.
This building dates from approximately 1694.
HAHAHA!
Wychmere Harbor. This is a very exclusive area and I believe this is the only view of it for the public. All the roads leading in are private.
Trademark shot of my car.
You are certainly getting to know where you live JoJo. Wish I was as adventurous. Great pictures, looks a nice area.
ReplyDeleteCape people are really weird about venturing out to other towns. It's just not done. I probably spent more time in Boston than I did on the Cape when I was a kid. One of my best friends moved to Orleans in 2nd grade and although we wrote letters, it never occurred to either one of us to get together, even after we got our licenses. She was only 20 miles away from me. Everyone goes to Hyannis as that's the main shopping area, but other than that, they stick to their hometowns.
DeleteHarwichport is both beautiful and interesting. I love the grand old houses and the quaint little shops. I can see why you shot 100 or more photos - it would be easy to do in a place with so many wonderful photo ops.
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend is a fantastic one JoJo. :)
Thanks Anna! I often wonder how I stayed within the 24 or 36 film exposure limit, 'back in the day'. I need a do over of every vacation I've ever taken pre-2006.
DeleteYou've sure had some nice adventures lately! Love all those colorful little shops :)
ReplyDeleteWell we actually had a decent summer, weatherwise, so I didn't have to stay cooped up inside hiding from the heat and humidity!
DeleteThose houses are amazing. What a lovely place you live in.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes it is very pretty here. We take so much for granted when we grow up somewhere. My mom even said, 'So what's down in Harwichport? I've never been there.' She's lived on Cape Cod since 1953. lol
