Sandwich in Spring

Those SE Mass posts took up so much time that I got way behind on current pics.  I went into Sandwich the first week of May to get a few snappies.  Things weren't quite at their peak yet, flowers- and leaves-wise.

This tree was really gorgeous.

Shawme Pond

One of my friends suggested that I take a photo of the pond every day for a year.  If I lived in town I might do it but not now.

Grape Hyacinth.

Grist Mill

The town finally finished re-doing this area where there's a 'bubblah' over an artesian well.  (People in MA refer to water fountains as 'bubblers').   The two of us don't care for it; we liked the stone/flagstones that was there before.

So far it's been a great month, weatherwise.  Perfect temperature and quite a bit of sun!

  1. Lovely photos JoJo. You are lucky to have so much spring and reasonable weather. Wish I could say the same.

    1. Well it sure was long time coming! I still am afraid to believe that the snow is really done for the year!

  2. Beautiful tulips! I love them better than daffies. Sandwich is a picturesque town and that pond does look peaceful. I am always impressed that you like so much of our BC, JoJo, as I was checking out your bucket list. . .

    1. It is pretty here....very quaint and bucolic, but I admit I am attracted to the magnificent and dramatic scenery of the west. There is a lot I didn't see out there, esp. in BC, when I lived there b/c I never thought I'd move back here. And I like tulips better than daffies too.

  3. Love the angle you picked for the tulips, and also the pond idea. Heck, it doesn't have to be everyday, just when you can. You'll have more pictures than if you didn't take any...Also loving the way you let that branch frame the shot in pic #3! You continue to amaze me!

    1. Thanks Tina! I suppose I could do a pic of the pond when I'm in town which is usually once a week or so.

  6. Hey JoJo,

You went into a Sandwich? Ignore me! Okay, I love the photos and the accompanying words. The weather does seem grand where you live in that land. I've been to Sandwich. Yes, this one, not that one. Aha.

Have a lovely Friday evening, JoJo.

    Gary :)

    1. LOL Believe me I've heard all the 'Sandwich' jokes. 'You're from East Sandwich? Is that near the crust?' 'You're from Sandwich? I think you're full of baloney. See what I did there?' *rimshot*

When I went on that high school trip to London & Paris, we stopped briefly in Sandwich, England on our way to the ferries.

  7. For some reason, I'm not sure exactly why, but this post really sets off your photographic talent. You have such a wonderful eye for finding great compositions in every day subjects. Wonderful!
