As you can see from my past posts, I've been doing more cross stitching. Part of the reason is that I started following the Stitching Daze blog a year or so ago. She has so many projects underway with more kits coming in every day, that it inspired me to take my stitching out and work on it again. Plus it's a good project to do in the livingroom when Russell is home.
I started this one at the very end of January and it took about 2.5 weeks to finish, but only because I didn't work on it every day. I had it on Facebook less than a half hour when one of my friends asked if she could buy it!!
I know I featured this one before, but I finally got it framed. Painted a plain wood frame in light blue and added some of the blingy keys I made right before the Superbowl that were inspired by the Seahawks colours. I also had an old charm (with the old logo that contains a less angry-looking bird) so I put that on the frame too. Another thing....not one person noticed that in the original photo, I put the wrong Roman numerals for Superbowl 48. I had it as 47. Rather than rip the entire row out, I shimmied in the 'I' to make it XLVIII.
This was a free pattern that was shown in just regular red, but I decided to use my varigated red floss instead.
My friend Bev pinned this adorable owl design on Pinterest, so I made it in about 2 hours.
I made them both into cards.
So many projects! So little time!
Beautiful work as always, JoJo. I like the Seahawks sampler, as we are Seattle fans. It's all west coast, so it's good.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I did the Hawks, dove and owl from photos I got. It was the first time I tried cross stitch w/o an actual paper pattern to follow. So it's easy to lose your place b/c you can't cross out each row as you complete it.
DeleteHey JoJo,
ReplyDeleteI'm a big admirer or your talents. And okay, Superbowl XLVIII :) Time for the Seahawks to play the B.C. Lions. Oh yeah!
Enjoy your weekend,
Gary
Oh that would be awesome - the Hawks and Lions!!!!! My only complaint with the Lions is their awful colours. Brown & orange? Is this 1973??? I went in the team store near BC Place to try and find a tshirt I could live with and I walked out empty handed.
DeleteJoJo, this is great stuff! Such tiny stitches done so meticulously! Haha--you can probably tell I'm not a stitcher :D Sewing a button is already a half-day project... You know, got to stitch and redo until it's positioned somewhere close to where the buttonhole might actually fit over it. So: ardent admirer :)

Thank you so much! And welcome to my humble bloggie! It's funny you mention that about the button...I have 2 buttons that need to be reattached to my pj top and I just can't seem to do it. Takes 5 minutes but I don't feel like it. lol
DeleteOh, these are so cool! I 'specially love the covered bridge and the owl! Glad I could help inspire you to get your stitching back out, too :D :D :D
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Tama! I forgot how much I missed it but seeing all of your lovely projects inspired me!
DeleteBeautiful cross-stitching (or is that stitchery?) I love the way you made cards from the little dove and the owl they are both adorable and they're cards that people would end up keeping and framing.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!! Well they were too small to frame so I figured why not put em on cards! Not sure if I'm going to try and sell the cards or just send them to people!
DeleteYou do such lovely work! You have really been a busy bee.
ReplyDeleteNothing else to do when i'm trapped in the house by snow and bitter cold. lol
DeleteThese are all creative, and the first one has a comforting feel - like I'd enjoy staring at it, with a fire going in the fireplace and a mug of hot cocoa in hand. I've done a lot of latchhook and needlepoint, never cross stitch. Is it much different?
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend and week, JoJo.

If you can do needlepoint you can do cross stitch. It's pretty easy...I'm self taught and all I'd done before it was needlepoint and a little but of crewel. My first project was a peacock (leave it to me to pick something like that) and it came out pretty good! If you ever need help, don't hesitate to let me know!
DeleteI still have a rather splendid unfinished cross-stitch from many years ago, wish I could magic it across to you.
ReplyDeleteOooo! What's the design, Val? I have a Mt. Rainier I started 11 years ago that's still not done!
