I hope everyone got a chance to see the Perigee Moon that came up on Saturday night. The last time it looked this close on a full moon was in 1993.
I went out to my shooting spot but the Cascades were covered in clouds so I gave up and went home. About 40 minutes later I was on Facebook when a post from KIRO-TV came up saying that the Super Moon was here and visible in many locations, so I went upstairs and looked out my kitchen window. Much to my delight, it was there, coming up through the clouds. It was very Halloweeny/Harvest Mooney.
First couple of shots were a bit too bright and blurry.
Then I just started messing around with different shutter settings. I'd already shipped my new zoom lens back to the Cape but was able to get the old one to work.
Amazing, it really does look like a Harvest Moon. What a wonderful treat to be able to see that from your kitchen window.
ReplyDeleteNice.
ReplyDeleteIts beautiful Jojo.
ReplyDeleteIt was a stunning full moon here to, but with all the drunk inbreds outside it was impossible to go out and see it!!! :-(
And when I look out my window all I see is wall.
Doing the rounds again...
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard the term 'Perigee Moon' I must confess until the latest one came round. Now I know something new.

Nice pics as always :D
Apparently it was at its closest to London at 6.10pm, when it was just rising (like we have a horizon without buildings on in London to see it rise over) and when it wasn't yet dark enough to see it anyway!
ReplyDeleteBut I did try. And I did catch a look about an hour later.
I saw it but apparently it was more stunning for others. My husband and I have seen Harvest Moons that look much more impressive. I'm not sure if maybe we were just expecting too much?
ReplyDeleteI was driving from London with my mother, so although by bedtime the clouds had moved in, I did have a FABULOUS view of it on the trip home.
ReplyDeleteAwesome :0)
Stunning shots, JoJo! I heard them refer to it as a "Super Moon".
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing photos!!! Hope you had a wonderful vacation in Cape Cod!!! :)
