Train Town

The town of Snoqualmie, which is just a short drive east of the Falls, is home to the Northwest Train Museum.

I love old locomotives.

I admit to being in a bit of a snit over this fence.  That's why I didn't take a lot of pics of the cool old railcars. I understand the need for it, but it really ruined my shots.

Weyerhaeuser Timber Company car.  Brian used to work for Weyco, till the company imploded in 2008.

  1. Wow. Those are nice photos. I've yet to visit some old train tracks here in California. In fact, I've yet to visit tons of stuff here. LOL I have to plan another touristy trip.

  2. We have boring things like train museums, too.

Those vintage trains, you know, they have really hard seats, and no air conditioning.

I remember queueing up in the newsagent's once behind a man who was asking about a magazine about buses and coaches. Who'd'a thunk it?

Love the photos! I have never been on a train like those before...except for the one at Kennywood!

  4. BB - You definitely need to do more touristy trips around the Bay Area. I want to see more of your pics!

Val - I didn't go inside the train museum, so I don't know if it's boring or not. I love trains, but I wouldn't like hard seats and no a/c!!

Nantz - Kennywood!!! Brian and his sisters used to go there all the time when they were kids!

  5. I Love Trains! They run through my town every 15 minutes...I grew up wanting to be a train engineer.

  6. I've never been in one either, JoJo, but I can't imagine them being interesting except to train buffs, of whom I know quite a few. And once they get going, BOY are they boring! But nice.

Going on a steam train is quite fun, but just avoid hot days.

    And possible cold ones...

  7. I showed the photos to Harley. His response to the locomotive?

    "Whoaaaa"!

We really must come and visit you guys someday! Maybe when we go on our great pilgrimage.

  8. I spend half my life on trains so have ended up - despite all my non-anorak hardwiring - becoming quite interested in them. Great photos and a fascinating looking place. And as for Snoqualmie as a place name...

    Well I'm amused!

  9. That locomotive is BEAUTIFUL. The moment I laid eyes on it, I felt compelled to whip out my pencil and draw it!!!

You know, I have always loved old locomotives, for the same reason as my affection for all things ghostly...there are few things as scary exciting as the sound of a locomotive whistling through a dark tunnel that had been out of commission for years.

PS: answered your eczema question at my blog! (Poor Brian!)
