But I wanted to be Saturn

No, not the car.

So Brian's downstairs right now, watching "Deadwood" as he does each night. It's not my cuppa tea so I came upstairs to surf around the blogs I visit each day. For some reason, I decided to google "quiz what planet are you" and I got a list of those funny, time wasting quiz things that go around by email from time to time.

There were only six questions and I answered truthfully on all of them. As I was finished, Brian came up to get a beer, and I told him what I was doing. He chuckles and says, "I can tell ya what planet you are, it begins with a U..." and he cracks himself up. I had just clicked on "get results" when he said that and I whipped around to look at him, with a loud, "HEY! Not Uranus!" I turn back to the screen, and there are my results: "Uranus". The big blue planet. I then yelled, "OH NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" Brian looks at the screen and doubles over laughing, says, "Put that on your blog!" as I put my head on the desk.
Look, there's a ring around Uranus. tee hee hee I know, that was a really juvenile joke, but someone had to say it. And don't tell me any of you weren't thinking it either!

Magic Kingdom Indeed!

I got this picture emailed to me today and I have to give these people snaps and props for creativity..... I'm fairly certain this was taken in N'awlins.

Sweet Bill, Smouldering Charley

These are two of my top fave characters played by Vincent. How could you not love Bill in "Mystic Pizza"? Actually the question really is, how could JoJo not want to marry sweet Bill? With thanks to Fezzi for the pictures.

Charley from "Crooked Hearts" is the angst ridden, tortured bad boy, which is a major turn-on too. I've always been one to like the bad boys, so I was instantly attracted to Charley. With thanks to Jill & Eliza for the pictures.

Other than Bobby Goren, what are your fave Vincent roles?

Have a safe climb, Julie!

Julie was going on a climb today in Oregon! I hope you made it up and back safely, so that you can set your sites on The Matterhorn this summer! Although I know you'd also like to be climbing him as well.....

Lost in Space?

While checking the traffic cameras along my route home, I notice that the way the snow is stuck on the Tacoma Dome's roof looks like the Jupiter 2 from "Lost in Space"!!!"WARNING! WARNING! Run Will Robinson!"

Brett Sez.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHARON!!!!

Today's my cousin Sharon's birthday!! I hope you have a great day and that you get everything you want this year, including an end to the madness that has been the past 4 years for our family. I love you lots and lots!!!

Panda-monium!!

I got these adorable pics in an email today from Liz and couldn't stop myself from squealing at all of the adorable passel-o-panda pictures. Look at all the silly little bears!! Now this is a day care I can get behind!!

AWWWWWW!!!!!!

So here we are, Snow Day Part 67. OK, I exaggerate, but once again, we are having snow and freezing rain, so the highways are a mess. My boss told me to stay home for a few hours. It's now nearly 9 a.m. and I can't decide if I should risk it or just stay home, yet again, today. Yawn. This is getting so old!! I don't mind having a day off or two, but I've had so many weather-related days off since November. Well, I guess I'll attempt to make it in to work today. If for no other reason than to get my paycheck!!

For L'Oreal, Part 2

After being stranded at work for 3 days, my new friend was in a terrible car accident, from which she thankfully walked away. Take care of yourself, get some rest and watch some Vincent movies! He's the cure for everything!! Thanks to eBay, Eliza and all others for the pictures.

My choice for Michael Goren

I like William Fichtner for the role of Michael Goren. He was in "Strange Days" with Vincent as his partner. He's 3 years older than Vincent in real life. Thoughts?

Snow Angels

Silly little Sagan loves to play in the snow! He was rolling in it and eating it too.
The sun finally came out and of course the snow melted, but now that it's night time, the temp has dropped and everything's a sheet of ice.
As for Brian, when we last left our hero, he was on his way to SeaTac Airport for a trip to Anchorage. His flight was to depart at 3:30 pm & arrive at 6:13 pm. Well, I get a call around 3:15 and he tells me that the flight's delayed because they have to fix the pilot's seat, and they haven't even boarded. He said the gate was crowded and the flight was oversold. So much for our certainty that the flight would be empty, because other than Brian, who the hell goes to Alaska in the middle of January? I told him if they offer the free tickets as incentive to give up your seat, take them and come home. So he called a bit later and said he has a credit for a future trip and was on his way home. Now I have my fingers and toes crossed that he gets here OK, at rush hour too, no less.

Oh, and at last check, his 3:30 flight is now estimated to depart at 5:17 pm and arrive at 7:55 pm.

Snow Day, Part Deux

The wild Washington winter weather continues as the entire region is shut down once again due to snow and ice. This is a picture of Interstate 90 in the Issaquah area (east of Seattle) of the abandoned vehicles left over from last night's commute. (WSDOT live camera)
I shot this picture with the aperture open to get the streaking snow effect. Taken at about 10:30 last night. It was coming down really hard!
The tree closest to our front porch is going to need to be tied to the house to keep it from getting bent every time we have heavy snow. Brian rescued that tree when it was tiny, following a huge wind storm we'd had in California. He found it outside his work in the parking lot. It was about 10" tall, so he wrapped the roots in paper towels and we potted it when he got home. It was one of only 2 trees we smuggled into Washington from California when we moved, and it's really thrived!
The rhododendron and dogwood tree in the front yard. Everything looks like it's been topped with sugar.
Looking east, from our back deck.
The final irony of today's storm is that Brian leaves today for a 3 day trip to Anchorage, Alaska, because he misses snow, cold and real winters!! He's wanted so much to see Anchorage in the middle of the winter. His flight's at 3:30 so hopefully by then the highways will be clear enough so we can get him to the airport.

Pushing Maximum Density

I saw this cartoon tonite in the paper and I busted out laughing......

......because this is my fridge.Every time we go away, we try to get a fridge magnet. If I see a cute one in a store, I'll get it. We give them to each other as stocking stuffers, although Brian's started taking his to work for his file cabinets because we're running out of room at home.

Aren't the 1970's-era dark wood cabinets just ghastly?

Uncle!

That distant screaming you heard this morning was me yelling, "Are you fucking kidding me?" as our power went off at 6:10 a.m., for no apparent reason. It was not windy. It was not raining. In fact, when I left for work, only my half of the street was out. Fortunately I've become quite adept at getting ready for work with a flashlight, and Brian can disengage the garage door mechanism in a flash, and in the dark, so I can get my car out. But if this is any indication of how the rest of my week is going to go, then I'm bumming hard.

"But you just got a new generator," you say. Yes, but it's only one-third hooked up. We are still waiting for the guy to call us to run the natural gas line, then after that, the "authorized" Kohler representative has to come out and do the "official" start up (to the tune of $430.00 Clearly, I am in the wrong line of work).

Since late October, 2006, the residents of the Pacific NW have gone the full 15 rounds with Ma Nature and I'm fed up. I'm crying "UNCLE", throwing in the towel, waving the white flag. We've had biting cold (late October), followed by torrential rains and catastrophic flooding (first week of November). Then came colder rains with wind in mid-November with a short power outage. After that, we had the snow and ice that crippled the region from Bellingham in the north to Chehalis in the south. More rain, leading up to our 100 Year Windstorm followed by freezing cold. Then some more snow and rain thrown in for good measure, and yesterday it was windy and the heavy rain was blowing sideways. The current forecast is for more snow flurries by Wed., and then clear but freezing cold weather for about a week.

I don't mind the rain. I don't mind the little bit of snow. I don't mind the cold. Normally, I don't even mind when the power goes out because I know it'll be back on soon, and for all I know, it's already on. But this winter has been all over the map. I'm not saying that I'd prefer to be in the Northeast where the temps have been in the high 60's, but I can live without the nonstop devastating storms. This was supposed to be an "El Nino" year, which means warm, dry winters up here, like in 2005. I'd just like a happy medium!
