More Fall Fun!

It was time for our fourth annual family trip to King Richard's Faire in Carver!!  It starts Labor Day weekend and ends the weekend before Halloween.  We went in mid-October.  It's a lot of fun and people-watching galore.  A lot of cosplay these days that isn't medieval at all.  We saw Boba Fett with ram horns on his helment. Plus a samurai looking dude too.  The food is pricey, but it's only once a year and we don't want to nickle and dime it.  And the shopping.......if I had unlimited funds I could easily drop thousands of dollars there.

This was the ticket lady's hat.  Isn't it cool?

The guy on the right is Ses Carny, who does The Torture Show.  He is hilarious, although some of his stunts are not for the squeamish.  I have to look away when he does the fish hooks in the eyes thing. The nail up the nose thing....I mean, like how do you even find out you can do stuff like that?

I'm noticing an upswing in steampunk looking clothes and wares, which is cool.

First thing through the gate, we load up on all the food tickets before the lines get insanely long. Russell was thinking and talking about getting a turkey leg All. Week. Long.

These glass topped walking sticks are sooooo beautiful.  Maybe someday I'll splurge on one.

Samurai dude.

Here's Ses about to do fire eating.

The King.

A wee unicorn in a pink tutu.

My sweet and amazing family.  We had so much fun.  I love making memories with them!

  3. I envy you being able to go to this faire. Looks like a lot of fun. Nice family shot at the end. It would have been even better if you had been there too. (like me, you are usually the one recording these events)

    1. Well I didn't publish the one with me in the group. I hate photos of me. lol It's my Facebook cover photo though. Val wanted to have our family photo taken with the gargoyle so she asked a woman if she'd operate my camera so I could be in it.

    1. It's been around for a long time but the first time I went was when I moved back here. This was our 6th visit, and the 4th with the kids. The turkey legs are a bit too much for me. I had mac & cheese, and apple crisp w/ ice cream.

    1. This one is pretty much the same people every year...same vendors, etc. But it's just fun to people watch. And every year I get something new so it spreads out the shopping over years. lol

    1. Thank you! It's his one day a year he gets that turkey leg (or at least one that size) and he gets so excited. It's the first thing we do after getting inside!

  8. I absolutely adored scrolling through this roundup of your trip to the Faire! We've been wanting to go, but keep getting deterred by the long drive (1.5 hrs for us)! It looks great though. So colorful and fun!! You may have inspired me to make it happen next year!

    1. Thanks Amy! It's worth seeing. You could always come down the night before and stay at a hotel nearby. There's a big Marriott in Wareham now, right where 195 ends at 495/25. And it's one exit away from the fair's exit too.

  9. We love the Renaissance Faire! We used to go when we lived in SF every year. Now back on the East Coast we've only be a few times, but when we go we do the faire over in Carver. I wonder what century the Samurai dude was in?
