Falmouth

After I left Highfield Hall, I discovered that I was super close to Main Street, and never having been there before, I decided to stop.  Unfortunately traffic was a nightmare and parking was even worse.  I found a 30 minute space so that meant I had to fly around as quickly as possible, with no time to really stop and see any of the stores.  That's why I departed Falmouth with nary a postcard or shot glass to commemorate my day trip.

Maybe this fall I can return and shoot more of this church.  You know how much I love this kind of architecture!!!

So many museums, so little time.

I do love these old homes.

A Penny-Farthing outside the local bike shop!

And here's your earworm for the day.  One of the few Beatles songs that doesn't annoy me.

In all the years of schooling, music and history classes, I don't think it was ever once mentioned that the person that wrote 'America the Beautiful' was, 1. A woman; and, 2. From Falmouth.

The village green.

This is the shopping area of Main Street.

Absolute mob scene.  Lovely, quaint, but crowded.  No time to shop.

This store is called Twigs.  I rather liked this sign but I find it somewhat impossible to read.  They are supposed to be various towns/places and the mileage.

I do plan to get back down here another time when it's cooler, less crowded and I can park for a longer period of time.  Still though, I was able to cross another town off the Local Bucket List!!!

  1. Great shots, JoJo, I liked the old homes and that Glass Onion photo. Those homes remind me of some of the southern homes in Georgia (still east coast style from Colonial days).

    1. Thanks! I would love to live in one of those old houses although they do require a great deal of upkeep.

I love the church's architecture too. We saw a bunch like that in NYC. They just don't make them like they used to. So cookie cutter these days. No shot glass? =P I had to stop collecting from the places I'd been. It took up too much space in my curio cabinet.

  3. Had a grin at Kathy Bates (Misery). Great pictures, not bad for such limited time.

  4. I love your tours of colonial America.

I forget, JoJo, have you been to Alameda (just South of Oakland)? It's full of gorgeous Victorian style homes.

    Have a nice weekend.

    1. I never got over to Alameda although I'd heard how great the houses were. And back then it was before digital so I was limited to a roll of film and probably wouldn't have shot as much as I wanted now.

  9. Awesome photos! I wish I can find some historic places near where I live. I guess, I haven't explored much. I know that downtown San Jose has historic structures. :-)
