Last Month Got Away From Me....

I have to say, I really don't know what's happening with time.  One second we are egging Val's house and the next we're ushering in May.  I can't barely remember what we even did this month.  Time loss is somewhat troubling....alien abductees report time loss.  lol  Let's hope that's not the case!  I often wonder how I got stuff done when I was working and commuting full time during the week.  I seem to be 10x busier now than when I had a job.

We've been doing some work over at my mom's.  This sickly cedar has been a hazard and we finally had to do something about it after one of the huge split off trees fell in the driveway.  It's a lot of work.  I forgot how much I hate yard work.  So that's when I go inside and start working on cleaning and purging stuff.  There's a lot to do that's for sure!!

Dragging those branches around is a lot of work.  I was pooped.

Marsha and Annette also came over to do seascape windows.  Annette brought this mermaid which was a stroke of genius.

I also put together the wooden Snitch kit that Cathy sent me.  It was a very fast project.  Decided not to paint it though.  The natural wood looks so pretty.

We enjoy visits from the resident bun.  We think he lives under the shed on the hill.

Since I like to play fast & loose, I put the winter boots away and we're getting the new a/c units in.  I hope we have a few more weeks of nice weather before heat and humidity sets in!

South Cape Beach and a Special, Fuzzy Friend!

Recently we had the opportunity to spend the day with Russell's old dog, Shadow!  I'm not going to go into the circumstances and story of why we didn't have Shadow, and it doesn't matter now cause we will be able to see her more often.  She's about 14 or 15 now and just a sweetheart.  

We met to pick her up at 8:30 and had her till 3.  Russell was sooo happy to see her! It had been over 7 years.

We took her first to South Cape Beach in Mashpee for a little walk.  Russell took her to the marshes side and I was back and forth taking pics of the beach and them. 

There were a couple of backhoes moving sand around so access to the beach that day was prohibited. Which was fine cause the wind was very cold and I could tell there was no beach glass anyway.  South Cape Beach is in Mashpee, where Vineyard Sound meets Nantucket Sound.

I was fascinated by the rippling water in this giant puddle from the rain the night before.

We took her back to our house and introduced Sagan to her.  

Goodest boi!  He was totally fine and for the most part, they ignored each other all day unless he got to close to her and she'd growl.

It's not clear if she remembered him but she chose to lay right here in front of our chairs.  Her owner gave us a backpack of her stuff so I put out her blankie and toy.  She made herself right at home and mostly snoozed.

She helped herself to the water dish and she scarfed down her lunch and some treats.

Seeing him so happy being reunited with her was sooooo awesome!!!!  

So soft and sweet!

Just have to share some recent pics of my sweet fuzzies.  I was making soup and had made it almost through the cutting up of chicken when I turned around to see this.  I never heard them come up behind me.  "Oh HAI!  We see you haz chikin.  We awso wike chikin."

August Miscellany

August has been a month of visitors!!!!  I've been so busy seeing people that time is flying by.  As mentioned previously, Diane & the kids were up from Maryland.  Then my dear friend Mary flew out from Idaho, so Marsha & I picked her up at the airport.  Then Russell, Marsha, Mary & her mom Frannie and another SHS friend, Lynn, & I had lunch at Taverna that week.  The following week my friend Karen came down from Maine and we met up in Plymouth.  Then my stepson & his girlfriend drove out from Ohio, and another Deadhead friend of mine, Lianne, was down on the Cape for a week so we got together too!

My mom also had visitors for a couple of weeks:  Her friend Grace, who she met in First Grade in the early 30s, and their friend Betty with whom they worked in NYC in the 40s.  Left to right:  Betty, mom, Grace's daughter Maureen and Grace.

So pleasantly surprised to see this brand of cherries at the local Stop & Shop.  Eastern Washington has the best apples, cherries, onions.

One day I came back from my errands and saw a large pawprint on my new chair!  Really?  REALLY?  2 beds, a couch and a crate, and Sagan sits in my new chair?!  So I started doing this when I leave the house for any extended period of time.

And when I come home, it looks like this.

Now he's just being brazen about it, sitting there when I'm home!  "Iz on yer chair, doin yer crafts!! Just keepin it warm for you mama!"

The Psychedelic Cupcake Factory was at it again!  This time Val & I used the new set of food dyes I just picked up.  We went with red, purple, black, blue and green.

We did the cupcake whoopie pies again.  I love the patterns inside each one!

'Oh HAI!  Whatcha doin'?'

Oh yeah, we finally decided that the time had come to say goodbye to an old friend.  Russell's poor old truck that has sat in the yard undriven for nearly two years now.  He used it a few times when we first moved in, when we were emptying out his storage unit.  Last time we were in it, the brakes went out as we entered the Buzzards Bay rotary.  Thankfully there was no traffic but it was a hairy ride home, that last mile or so.  To be honest, I was sad to see it go! But alas, it was time.  We didn't want to sink anymore money into it to fix it and it couldn't sit there & rust indefinitely, so it was carted off by a junk car buyer.

Beautiful first quarter moon....although I've always called this a half moon.

My 'little' love bug with his love bug toy.  He's starting to get grey on his muzzle.  I still refer to him as 'puppy' though.  It's so endearing when he's running around with this, or any stuffy, in his mouth!!!  

And I leave you with one more pic cause it's just so darn adorable.  My stepson Jeff, his fiancee' Casi and my sweet Bear, all smiles like the proud papa he is.

It occurred to me a few days ago that I've probably socialized & gone sightseeing more in the last 2-3 months than I did in all my years in Washington....or at least in the last 6 years I lived there.  It really is great to be back!
