Light Shows

Oh must show you this gorgeous sunrise from November 19.  It was beautiful.

I wanted to try this technique and was surprised that it actually worked really well.  That cable shutter release was a good investment.  

Got up at the crack of o'god thirty one morning and was delighted by this pretty scene, even though there were some high clouds making it a little fuzzy.

Then the sun came up.

My next door neighbour got one of those cool laser Christmas lights thing that shoots thousands of points of green light all over their lawn, house and even the trees.

Accidentally left the shutter open when I was moving things, but it came out cool.

Out of focus, but you can see the lights up in the trees.  I really want to get one of these, but in blue.

In the course of surfing around to find one of those laser lights, I stumbled on a projector with  prism that shoots moving lights onto your house.  I went down to Home Depot and picked one up...it was only $20.  The pics don't do it justice cause all the lights swirl around.  All I need is a disco ball and Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and I could have an awesome par-tay.

Best twenty bucks I've ever spent! 

Beautiful Sandwich

So after we left the Glass Museum, Russell wanted to show me where we could try to dig for glass, out in the marshes.  However, we were surprised to find that it was not just high tide, it was a very high tide.  Probably due to the full moon from the night before. 

Needless to say we weren't about to venture out there!!!

Then we decided to go over to Boardwalk since we were right there.  The parking lot was packed with people who had the same idea since it was probably about 60.  Everyone was in short sleeves.

Marshes totally flooded.  I am so rarely down at the beach at high tide.

The tide has to be high like this in order for people to jump off (in summer obviously).  Although I only remember jumping off this one afternoon many summers ago, Russell was off that thing nonstop since he lived so close to it when he grew up.  It's a rite of passage in our hometown to do this...at least once....in your life.

I saw a family go up to the center of the bridge and let these balloons go.  I assume in memory of someone that passed away.  It's a nice gesture, but I am finding a lot of balloons and strings on the beaches and it is not good for the sea life at all.  I wish people wouldn't do it. 

This water looks so delicious so it's hard to believe it's ice cold.

Looking out at Old Harbor

When I was a kid, I was always a little freaked walking across this, with no railings, at high tide. Trying to ride your bike across was also an exercise in abject terror, at low OR high tide.  I would eventually chicken out and walk my bike to the other side.  Today was extremely crowded with lots of kids and dogs so we decided to just go as far as the top of the bridge and not cross to the beach.

This isn't the first time I've seen clouds like that over this beach.  I wonder what kind they are and why they form like that.

Glass Blower's Christmas

The Glass Museum outdid themselves this year with the Glass Blower's Christmas.  

We got our annual ornament from this tree.  The ornaments are made by Federici Designs in Vineland, NJ.  I would have literally been happy with any of them so I had Russell pick it out.  I will shoot it on our tree for a later post, but it was similar to that small one to the immediate left of the large green with white and red splotches.  That might even be the one he picked.  

Amazing work.  I have half a mind to go back and get this one too just for every day decoration.

I couldn't stop taking pictures of this tree........I seriously want them all.

The only way to access these trees and ornaments is by paying the museum admission.

However, they have a few trees in the gift shop too, so you can pick something from in here without paying to see the whole museum (although it's well worth it to go).

I posted this one on Facebook and my local and relocated friends are dying to get their hands on one. It is too big for our tree.  I ended up going back the following week to pick one up.  Since it's our hometown, I thought we should probably have one!  They don't ship because the sign can come loose.
