Truro Vineyards

A winery on Cape Cod?  Yes!  I didn't think we had the right climate to grow grapes for wine here, as they need hot, dry summers vs. humid ones.  But the grapes are thriving up there.  We decided to stop in real quick on the way home.

Grapes are just about ready for harvest!

We didn't stay for the tour.  Russell picked up a couple of bottles wine, in the lighthouse bottles.  The have wine in regular bottles of course but I like these way better.

I don't drink and he doesn't much so it's going to be awhile before the bottles will be surrendered to me for craft purposes!  I'm especially eager to get my hands on the clear one!

  1. I have pollished off a few of those litehouse bottles, as well as the regular bottles!!! lol!!! I have also given the litehouse bottles as gifts. I recently did a gift basket for a fund raiser & put a litehouse bottle in it! I love red wine, & my fav red wines don't come in the litehouse bottes. But I can tell u, their wines r DELISH!!!! I LOVE them!!! :)

    1. I looooooove those bottles. They are my fave. I don't drink though. Even when I did I didn't like wine. I'm such a bad Italian! You and I will definitely take the tour though. This was just a quick trip to pick up the wine.

  2. Just catching up on some blogs and I'm so jealous of your day trip to ptown! I love it there. I had no idea that Truro had a vineyard. Those are nifty bottles indeed!!

    1. I'm not sure when the vineyard started up there but I knew about the lighthouse bottles for a few years. I assume they started 10 years ago? It's right off Rte 6, on the left side as you are headed to PTown. You get off at the Rte 6A exit in North Truro.

  3. I am not much of a "wine" person but have visited a winery before, took a tour, and learned about the process. The one I visited was on Put-in-Bay Island in Ohio. It was interesting. Great picture!

    1. I don't like wine either although last night the internet went down so we cracked open the zinfandel. I need the bottle for a craft anyway. I've done some of the Napa Valley wine tours - Mondavi and Berringer Brothers - both of which were great. But I didn't care for the wine tasting afterwards. I'm such a bad Italian.

    1. Next year I'll take the tour with my friend Sheila, who commented above. I would like to check it out in more detail! If we can finish up the zinfandel I can work on that bottle this weekend!

    1. It's funny cause Russell disappeared into the shop while I was shooting pics. I can't remember if I told him specifically to get those bottles or he picked them himself. I was glad to see he got them.
