Digging Out

The day after our epic snowstorm, which was apparently the 6th worst in state history, was really nice and sunny.  We were up by 7, but still snowed in.  We weren't sure when our plow guy was going to show up, so I went outside to clean off the car again, since at least 4" fell after those nice young men shoveled it out.  I wanted to get it started too and the defrosters going.

It really sucked to be pinned into this small space though.  The snow was way too deep around the house to even attempt to walk around to the front yard.

And we certainly weren't going to shovel our way out.

While I was outside with the car, someone with a plow showed up and asked if we wanted our driveway done.  We have a regular plow guy but we just couldn't wait any longer, so we said, 'yes please'.

As soon as they were done we jetted down to the truck to make sure it was OK.

She started right up and we were especially relieved that there was no snow on the trailer.  We were wondering how to clean it off because you get hefty fines for not cleaning off your vehicle roof; even cars will be pulled over for it.

 Droplets on my windshield

 SNER!

Back at home.....that plow moved a lot of snow but it's looking good.

They did, however, bury our mailbox so we were outside for another half hour digging that out.  This was about the best we could do under the circumstances.  The snow pile was about 5 feet in front of the box.

The fence next door at our neighbour's house.  They only come down on weekends.

Around the corner

Seriously.  Never seen this much snow ever.

Sure was a pretty moon in the afternoon though.

  1. We got a good dollop of the white stuff yesterday and last night but still not as much as you did. I am just grateful we live in an apartment building and don't have to do any shovelling. Hoping to get to bowling this afternoon though.

    1. Once again it's coming down hard in New England. This last storm didn't even have a chance to melt. Why do I live where it's so cold and snowy? :(

  2. For something that looks so lovely, it sure can be a pain in the proverbial.......my cousin in Connecticut got about 8", where I live in the UK we got about a quater inch, but that's enough here for schools to close and everyone to be told to not go out unless 'necessary'.

  3. Wow, you really did get a lot of snow. We only got three or four inches, but with a promise of more tomorrow, at least an 80 percent chance. Ugh.

    1. Yes we did....and despite some rain/warm temps at the end of last week, and a changeover to rain for awhile today, you can't tell that anything melted.

    1. It started at 1 pm on Monday and ended around 9 pm on Tuesday night. It was horrible. But as I said....at least the power stayed on.

And we complain about a few inches. Then again, life here comes to a halt. Snow plows don't come out to the neighborhoods or even the commonly traveled roads. It's just not feasible - they're aren't enough plows. I get the whole fine for not clearing the top of roofs. That's so annoying!

Stay warm and stay safe on the roads.

    1. I agree that the fine is necessary....I mean who wants to be pelted with snow and ice off someone's car. But that said, we were wondering how in the world we were gonna clean off the top of that trailer, as there are no interior or exterior ladders on it. Luckily the snow didn't stick.
