Touristy Stuff and Cupcakes

Continuing our day tour of Victoria, which of course took place prior to the Halloween post I did.  There are tons of souvenir shops along Government Street.  It's your source for all of your Canadian-themed- tchotchkes-made-in-China needs.  And also syrup actually made in Canada.

"You who lift a penny from the gutter and with the same hand point out stars find me"  I'm not totally sure I understand this quote.
This is one of my fave murals in the entire world.  I can't help but shoot a pic of it every time I'm up there.  And I also love the old lamp post as well.  This is worth clicking on to see it larger.  It's also a good illustration of The Salish Sea.

Pumpkin spice with cream cheese frosting.  Yum Yum!

Mailboxes

Fountain outside The Bay Shopping Centre

I used to get Brian a Cuban cigar from this place and smuggle it home.  Now that I've admitted that publicly, watch my passport get revoked...

 Trounce Alley

One of my fave stores.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company

Aren't these adorable?  Not sure what they were but I assume apples.  Way too cute to eat!

  2. 'You who lift a penny from the gutter and with the same hand point out stars find me' is a quote from Carla Funk, Victoria's first poet laureate (who I confess I'd never heard of but Mr Google came to the rescue. It reminded me of Oscar Wilde's 'we are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.

  3. I got some great tat from the touristy shops in West Edmonton Mall - I have a moose fridge magnet and Alberta t-shirts. I didn't look at the labels to see where they were made, though, I must check.
