Cali-flora & Fauna

Now that I've uploaded a bunch of pics to my Facebook photo albums, I'll have some subject matter on which to draw, if I want to keep my blog limping along.

There are some pictures of the local California wildlife and such.

This is our hamster, Buddy, eating some roodles.

Our bunny Clover.
Mule deer behind our townhouse in Fairfax.

"Nice rack!"
Also taken from our townhouse in Fairfax.

Foliage in Northern California starts slowly in October and peaks at Christmas.  This picture was taken in December, 1994.
Hawk.
Madrona tree.
This moth was really big, and sitting in the bushes in front of our townhouse.  I have no idea what kind it is.
It was as big as a butterfly.
Our guinea pig, Oliver, in the patio garden, Fairfax.
Spring in Fairfax.
Sea lion in Noyo Harbor, Fort Bragg, CA.
Sheep in Humboldt County.
This is the day after Thanksgiving.  The night before, Brian flung the turkey carcass into the woods behind our townhouse.  We woke up to vultures all over the ground and in the trees, fighting over the carcass.

  1. How difficult was it to get that hat on Oliver?

  2. Well he was a pretty mellow guinea pig, and when we shot this pic, he was also pretty old, so not hard at all.

  5. You and your animals - I think you are even worse than me!

I bet Sagan would have loved a bunny or a Guinea pig, or even a little hamster...(though not much meat on one of those)

  8. Actually Fen, we've been working our way up the evolutionary chain. Started w/ fish, then hamsters, guinea pigs, a rabbit, a hedgehog, then the doggies. lol

  9. Lovely pictures. You are really into the rodent family aren't you?
When my daughter was small we had the teddy bear hamster and the small mouse but no guinea pig. They have a tendency to bite hard enough to break the skin. Love the park pixs though my favorite are Yellowstone.

Thanks for sharing. Always love personal pixs.
