Fairy Houses at Highfield Hall, Pt 1

After I left Spohr Gardens, I stopped by Highfield Hall to check out the fairy house exhibit, which runs through August 30th.  It is so incredibly worth it!!!!!  The houses were AMAZING. There was so much detail in each house that I shot over 200 pictures.  The complete album is on Facebook and it was really hard to choose which ones to feature.  With each house I kept saying, 'No my god!' and 'You have got to be kidding me! This is just too adorable!'

 I looooooved this ship!

This one appeared to be crocheted with a lace glove.

An agate slice for a window!  And look at the tiny cord of wood!

The library was another one of my faves.

This one had some great stained glass windows.

  1. Those are stinking FANTASTIC! I really love the castle that looks like mushrooms! Man, I would have taken a ton of pictures myself. That is one of the things that finally sold me on digital photography all those years ago - no more film to buy, take as many pictures as you want, and no waiting for developing! Can't wait for Part 2!

    1. Thank you! I really don't know how I ever lived within the confines of 24 or 36 exposure film! I kept resisting digital...I kept saying I was a purist and would never change from film and now I don't know how I ever lived w/o digital. I need a digital photography do-over of ever vacation I ever took up to 2007.

  2. These are really really cute. Our miniature club made some a fews years back and stashed them into hollows of trees at a nearby park for the kids to find. We had a blast. Hugs, LJ

    1. I really want to make one. I was thinking the other day how a project like this would've been easy for me as a kid but as an adult I'm having a really hard time coming up with a good idea.

    1. I entered a raffle to win one that was inside (the pic is in my post tomorrow). I'd love to win it.

  4. Never heard of such a thing as this. These photos are pretty cool. 200 all together? That's a lot of fairy house photos!

    1. There was so much detail to each house that I had to keep shooting. There were only 32 or 33 total houses. Plus there are so many other really cool art installations at the place.

  5. Hi Jojo, I too would keep on shooting because these little fairy houses are so unique and cute. Interesting place. I wonder who started this project.

    1. Aren't they sweet? I know that this place has done the fairy house exhibit before and local artists participate. I only found out about Highfield Hall last summer. It's quite the hidden gem.

    1. I probably would've stayed but I had to get home b/c of an appt at 1! I could easily visit again though, and it's free. The place just has a donation box inside. Part 2 of the fairy houses published today. :)
