Burial Hill & Other Stuff, Plymouth

After getting my table at the Mill Store, I went downtown to wait for a friend of mine to meet me for dinner so I hiked up to the top of Burial Hill.  The original Pilgrims and their families are up here, so the graves date back to the late 1600s.

I LOVE how this came out.

On the walk back down to the street.

I have no idea what this statue is, I saw it way in the distance on top of the hill.  I'll have to go back and find it!

This is the first time I've ever seen a hot pink and black flower.

Inside the restaurant

Then we walked over to the Mayflower II.

Safely back in port!

  1. You are so lucky to live where you do JoJo! Surrounded by all that history, I'd give anything to be able to walk out my door and visit the places you do. Thanks for posting your Wonderful pictures :)

  2. Thanks Tess! Well I admit I am seeing this area through new eyes. It's really pretty but the polar opposite of what I grew used to out west!

  3. I love the Mayflower II photo, nautical scenes are a favorite, and the shot of the boat on the building. I like places like that Plymouth cemetery too, so thanks for posting your shots. Many don't appreciate the history of their own country.

The east coast is old, the west coast is young, different attitudes and different history. . .I like both.

I was fascinated by the Pilgrim's graves. I used to go etch the tombstones of old sites once upon a time. What an honor for you to visit them.

  6. You had an interesting walk, Jojo. I like to visit old graveyards, it gives some unusual feeling... here in India are many such left from British colonial time, same type like those in your photos (though I know that those are American).
I liked the view of the port.. I've never been to such. Hope you are having a great day!

  8. There is something very tranquil about cemeteries, at least in the daytime, with the sun shinning brightly overhead. I found it interesting to read the tombstones and the dedications and wondered what the people were like, what they did and what it must have been like when and where they lived.

The deep pink and black flowers are gorgeous - wonder what they are?
