Seen in Boston, on Morrissey Boulevard, the day before Thanksgiving when we had a ton of wind and rain. This was the same storm my squeeze drove home in that night. It's nice to see that the DOT decided to give drivers a chuckle that morning. ("wicked" as pronounced in 'witch of the west', not pronounced like 'it wicked up the water').

Never heard "wicked" in the sense of "up the tides". Like the sign though.
ReplyDeleteThe use of 'wicked' in New England is a substitute for "really". It started in the 70's, with the expression Wicked Good.
ReplyDeleteNo, that meaning I know, it's the other one that's a mystery to me, the one that's pronounced "wick'd" - like a candle I presume.
ReplyDeleteI remember in my travels as a rep seeing those signs...high winds and fog...I shudder at the memory. Yours I've never seen.
