Very Pinteresting!

As if I didn't need one more thing to occupy my time online, my friends turned me onto Pinterest.  It's this online site where you can virtually 'pin' stuff you like and in which you are interested, onto different boards.  If you can't find the stuff you like in the search feature, as uploaded by other pinners, you can upload your own custom boards with your fave stuff.  People who are on the main Pinterest page will see what everyone is uploading and pinning to their boards, and repin them if they like what they see.  It's a cool way to keep all the things you love organized and in one place.  I found myself pinning like a maniac during the week I was waiting for Sagan to come east...it was a nice distraction and I was able to immerse myself in it for hours which kept my mind off everything.  I also started pinning during the Superbowl, which was a nail-biter of a game.

You get to see who likes what, and then you can follow people's boards if you want to check out what you might want to repin to your own boards.  I must say that it's definitely more female-oriented, than male oriented.  I've gotten a ton of craft and cooking ideas from it already.  Now I know how to make crackle marbles.  By the way, as a side note to The Vincent Vixens, you ladies would have a field day creating boards for all his movies and roles.....just sayin'.  ;-D

I have boards for my fave Actors, Art, Crafts, Books, TV & Movies, Adorable Animals, Collections, Sports, Bucket List, "Food Porn" (recipes), Gems & Jewelry, Glass, Grateful Dead artwork, Canada, Places I've Lived & Vacationed, etc.

Here is one of the craft ideas I found on that site.  You glue buttons around a balloon to make a bowl.  While this sounds easy in theory, it's actually extremely time consuming and you have to hold the balloon upright for quite some time while the glue sets in order to keep the buttons from sliding down the sides.  Also, if you put the balloon down for any reason, it will flip over b/c of the weight of the buttons.  In retrospect I probably should have propped it up in something like a jar, or even a small, empty wastebasket.  Once the glue has dried, you pop the balloon, leaving a bowl.  I was unsure how well this would work, so I decided not to invest any more time in gluing additional rows of buttons.

I was afraid that popping the balloon so suddenly would pull the entire project apart, so I managed to undo the knot and let the air out very slowly, and to my surprise, the balloon pulled away nicely from the buttons, leaving a bowl shape.  It will still need some finishing work to get rid of, or hide, the glue bits. I will probably need to buy shellac or some other kind of sealer for it.

Patriots Pancakes

In honour of the New England Patriots being in the Superbowl this year, I decided to make Patriots pancakes for breakfast.  That meant dividing the batter into 3 bowls, so that 2 could be coloured red and blue.

I'd printed the "flying Elvis" logo...

And cut it out to make a stencil.  There was no way I could possibly replicate the detail of the logo, so it ended up just being a silouette of it.  I put powdered sugar into the salt shaker, and it was very difficult to control and get into the stencil by shaking it.  I ended up holding the shaker over the design and tapping the side with my hand.  

Sadly, the Pats lost the Superbowl after a series of real bonehead plays, and the game was quite a nail biter.  Oh well, there's always next year.....

Cookies, Walkies and Moonies

Decided to bake my squeeze his fave peanut butter chocolate chip cookies one Friday early in the month.  Here's my ever supportive and helpful Assistant Pastry Chef, who stuck to me like glue, hoping I'd "accidentally-on-purpose" drop a glob of peanut butter.  Pepper lost interest fairly early on and was snoozing in the livingroom.

"Hi mama! Iz helpin!!"  Isn't he just squeeee?  Who could be afraid of a face like that?

The next day we took the pups for walkies on the trail to Doughnut Pond, in Sandwich.  I'd never even heard of this place, but my honey used to hunt and run his dogs here all the time so he took me.  It was a lovely walk, but due to our very mild winter, the ticks are still out in full force.  We were picking them off our clothes and the dogs. The next few days were pretty grim, picking ticks off them......and having them fall off, now swollen and the size of coffee beans.  *urp*

There were clouds blowing across but I got this shot on the 'bulb' setting on my camera, which took the clouds out.

This is really what it looked like.  I like how the clouds look kind of rainbow-y in the moonlight.

True Love Forever.

A fairytale 30+ years in the making.

He makes me feel sooooo good.

All these months later and I still can't get him off my mind.  Nor do I want to.

A Coupla Cards, a Shell Thing and a Pretty Star

Thought I'd share a couple of new cards I made recently.  

The top one is a thank you card I made for Angie, using a vintage postcard of Mt. Desert Island in Maine, where she lives, and some ocean-themed elements.

This one was for an old friend of ours, who is battling cancer.

My friend Barit went to Sanibel Island, Florida over the Christmas holidays and she brought me back a big bag of amazing shells.  Sanibel is known for it's incredible shells.  I made this with pink fresh water pearls on a piece of driftwood from White Horse Beach.

Whipped this off in about 90 minutes right after the snow storm.

A Spin Around the 'Hood

I love our neighbourhood.  So much to see and shoot!

I had to trespass down someone's driveway, past their house, to shoot this sign on the garage.   I admit to having a 'sense of entitlement' when it comes to shooting a photo I really want, even if it's on private property.

I was distressed that I was completely unprepared to capture this rabbit, which is clearly not wild.  I was on foot, with Pepper, several blocks from home and my car.  This was also taken a day or so before Sagan arrived and I knew that it would be impossible for us to foster a rabbit with a German shepherd in the house. 

I will never tire of this buoy look.  It's so quintessentially Cape Cod/New England.

I love this intersection.  I mean what are the odds that 2 streets named Washington, where I moved from, and Bourne, where I moved to, would intersect?

There were 4 seagulls but 2 flew off before I could get this shot.

You would think the town would want to clear off these wires and that giant nest.

This is the Christian Science Church in our neighbourhood, a few streets over from my house.  It's the cutest building with great diamond pane windows.
