Update

I was pretty much housebound all of September again cause the heat and humidity refused to let go. Then we had a ton of cloudy, rainy days which were awesome and very much enjoyed.

When we finally got a dry day, I mowed the lawn for the first time in 2 months.  While I was on the hill outside the shed, I decided to try and clean up the rotted wood bits from when we tried to fix it up.  Of course me being me, I caught my leg on a jagged piece of wood and sliced the crap out of it.

And the fall baking has begun.  I should've either cut this recipe in half or given a bunch away as I'm a tad sick of pumpkin spice now.  They were yummy though!

We both ended up really sick with upper respiratory infections at the end of Sept.  All I could do was watch TV and cross stitch a beaded hummingbird while hacking up a lung.  My diagnosis was a sinus infection.

We had a cool sunset in Sept too.  Such a sucker for pinky clouds.

This area has a huge problem with wild turkeys.  There are thousands of them and they roam the neighbourhoods in huge flocks, stopping traffic and often trying to attack humans that are trying to shoo them away.  This was as close as I was getting to the ones that wandered into my yard.

They showed up at a most inconvenient time, blocking my driveway when I had to leave for a doctor's appointment.

Pretty moon.

Back in July when I went to Sue's house, she took me to the swap shop down at the Bourne Dump. It's a little house where you can bring gently used items and leave them and the public can take what they want for free.  She handed me a silver metal sphere with holes in and said I could probably do something with it.  I didn't even know what it was, but inside were instructions and it was a rice cooker.

I sprayed it with multicolour glitter paint then spent quite awhile wiring 266 Czech glass crystals into every single hole.  That was unbelievably time consuming.  I knew I wanted to make it into the planet Saturn but how to do the rings?  My best option was to use a clear plastic shrinky dink sheet, cut it into a circle, and then use glitter puff paint on the edges to make the coloured rings.

I like how it came out!

We're finally starting to feel better but for a nagging cough and being tired all the time too.  I got the Halloween decorations up at the beginning of the month although it took about 3 days when usually it takes an afternoon.  It's just so nice to finally have cool weather.  Hoping to get out and do a few more things before winter hits.

Someone Please Slow Down the Time!

Each year seems to be flying by faster than the one before.  I cannot believe it's almost October.  It feels like I just put away the decorations and it's time to take them out again.  What's mostly time consuming is dusting and putting away all the every day decorations while simultaneously putting up the Halloween ones.  I don't just toss my stuff into the storage bin.  No no no.  I have to dust and wrap almost every single knick knack in bubblewrap or tissue paper.  This would explain why my stuff is in good condition and has lasted for over 25 years.

Anywho.  I did want to share some cool sky pics taken at the end of August and this month.

I was outside at the right time to catch the afternoon sun in my glass wind chimes, which are a little worse for wear.

Some have broken.  I had to do a coat of glass paint a couple of years ago and it looks like they need another one.  Or maybe I should just buy a new set.

Full Harvest Moon on September 15th

I was browsing the Halloween stuff in CVS and came across the scariest masks I've EVER seen. *shudder*  Trump looks like he has grilled chicken on his head.

After I finished the states, I wanted a super quick, instant gratification project so I whipped up this beaded cross stitch fireflies kit.  Took two days.  I gave it to my friend Yvonne as a fridge magnet.

I was kinda sick of looking at these unfinished needlepoints on my craft table so I buckled down and worked for a couple of hours hand stitching each one to black backing fabric and then using fiberfill for the stuffing.  I erred with the sewing on the peacock feathers.  There were still a few rows of white canvas showing at the seams, so I used a black sharpie and carefully coloured them.  Worked out really well too.

Real life has been rudely butting into my life.  The upswing in 'adulting' I've had to do lately has been unreal.  I'm so exhausted all the time, it's not even funny.  I'm still having issues with panic and anxiety, and trying not to see the glass as half empty.  It's so hard.  Sometimes I just feel so beaten down and I don't want to leave the house.

I haven't been beachcombing in ages and I have no idea when I can pencil in some beach time.  I think the parking lots are free by now.  I have a rather ambitious "Things I want to do this fall" list and it remains to be seen if I will be able to do all of it but I'll give it the ol' college try!

More Lobsters and Scenery...and Funny T-Shirts

There are no shortage of souvenir shops in town, that's for sure.  A lot of the tshirts are really funny.  I loved this one.  The flies are such a nice touch.

Yes.  The answer is Yes.

I need this one, especially as it relates to this past summer's weather.

Best. Celtics shirt.  EVER.  I would even wear this one and I don't like basketball, but I couldn't help but get sucked into Celtics fever when they were winning year after year.

The Mayflower II in her home port.  I think she'll be towed through the Canal again later this fall for more repairs at Mystic Seaport in Connecticut.  Plymouth is gearing up for the big 400th year celebration in 2020.

This was my favourite lobster of all.  It was the Plymouth & Brockton Bus entry and it's brilliant.

Even a miniature Plymouth Rock memorial!

He looks kinda sad though.  I guess if I had to deal with Boston traffic multiple times a day, I'd be pretty sad too.

Usually I make the climb but not today.  The drought has fried all the grass too.

More pretty chairs.

This was my fave.

I was gonna walk over to Brewster Gardens but I was sweating to death and afraid that the time was nearly up at my parking meter so I walked back.

No shortage of souvenir shops.  I actually hadn't gotten a fridge magnet in all the times I've been there so I rectified that situation.  Although I'm sure Russell would say, 'How can you tell if there is one or not when there are a hundred magnets on the fridge?'

I have about three months' worth of photography junkets to catch up on so hopefully I can cover some ground this fall.
