King Richard's Faire

The 5th annual Earle family trip to King Richard's renaissance faire was last month.  It's always a fun time.  Expensive, but it's only once a year so it's worth it.

Last year we had the tickets but Russell was gravely ill.  The kids went, but he was in the hospital and we didn't even know if this would ever happen again.  I was as excited for his turkey leg and beer as he was!!

Everything is so pretty!

I want to buy everything.

And the requisite family photo!

King Richards Faire runs from Labor Day through late October, located in Carver, MA.

Ye Olde Faire, Parte Three (see whate Ie dide there?)

There was a guy with a giant bubble blowing wand so I was able to get some good bubble pics.  It wasn't till I got home that I noticed that the guy with the mug on his head was in one of the pics, which was fortuitous. I'm not sure how he glues it on his head but there has to be some kind of adhesive.

The washer women wenches are really, really funny.

This guy was onstage and they made him run to the back of the crowd, put on the underpants and pull them up as high as he could and yell something like, 'With my big boy pants I can do anything!'

Super creepy.  Like a cross between a gargoyle and a Tatooine Tusken Raider (Star Wars geek alert...).

I tried on a few crowns....Russell was pushing me to get one but I didn't this time.  Maybe next year.

More giant bubbles.

Bring out yer dead!!!!

Things were winding down for us by mid afternoon, so it was time for a few family photos before we all went our separate ways for the day.

Val brought her friend Jackie along, and that's who is on the far right.

Jackie offered to take a family photo and I reluctantly agreed to be in it, but it's not too bad of me I guess.

Farewell till next year!!!

Games & Shows (King Richard's, Part 2)

Father & son try their hand at the knife throw.

And the thing where you try to ring the bell.

It's pics like this that warm my heart and make me so happy.

Axe throw.  I think Nick really found his ren faire game niche with this one.

Samantha joined the boys for the Chinese star throwing game.

This was at the forge where they make swords, knives and daggers.

Hmmmm......

I love this area....you can make a wish and tie a piece of fibre so that it comes true.  I don't know if they leave this up year round or what.

Then we went to watch the Torture Show starring Ses Carny.  He is pretty funny.

You have to wonder how one finds out they are good at hammering nails up their nose and sticking fish hooks in their eye sockets....and pulling.....

I thought the Mud Show was going to entail mud but apparently it's just comedy.  It was OK....hard to hear them over the bagpipers nearby.

Love this sign!

Due to the cloudy, cool and showery weather, the place was really empty and waiting in line for food took no time.
