Printer Tray Project

I could not wait to get started on my tray.  I did a mock up real quick of ideas.  Some made the final cut, others didn't, like that red car.  The variety of sizes were perfect for my needs.

I started going through all my altered art supplies, and even small trinkets that were on my bookshelves as knick knacks.  I tried to stick with mostly vintage.  This is the first incarnation of the left side.

I looked up that Wonder Bread premium and it dates from the mid 1950s.  The old sewing things also date from that time period as well.

Whenever I needed a taller compartment, I broke the horizontal wood piece which came out easily.  I was literally waking up in the middle of the night with more ideas of things to fill in the spaces. 

This is the final project below with close ups of the sections.  This was a fun project and I'm sorry that it's already over.  But I love how it came out.  That alien near the bottom glows in the dark.  I had quite a start when I shut off the lights in the craft room and it was lit up. 

Kinda makes me want to get another one.......

Best. Antique Show. Ever!

The Sagamore Bridge was under construction for the month of April and traffic was a complete gridlocked nightmare.  So trips into Sandwich had to be brief, at best, in order to get back on the other side of the Canal before it got worse.  However, we were leaving town and I saw an 'Antique Show & Sale' sign and pointed it out, so my trusty chauffer followed the arrow and we ended up at the Sandwich Legion.  I didn't have high hopes for this but the pull to possibly find a treasure was too great. 

I went to the first table and I saw so much stuff!!!!  I bought a bunch of little trinkets for altered art.  Found this Coke bottle, which has been treated to be that colour, but it's still pretty old and heavy.  My stepson collects Coke stuff so we got it for him.

I am a sucker for watch faces and parts.  The woman was selling them for a dollar apiece.  I was having trouble selecting what I wanted when Russell cut to the chase and asked how much for the whole box.  She said $20 and I got it.  

Got incredible deals on 2 large jars of beach glass.  

After I got home I pawed through one of them just in case there was anything rare and BAM!  There it was.  A huge piece of red.  The rarest of the rare.  I was legit flipping out. 

As we were leaving, I spied this printer tray....something I have wanted for AGES.  I've looked into them before and couldn't find one that I could afford that had a great variety of spaces and was really old.  I tentatively asked how much and was told $15.  SOLD!

Such a sucker for Moroccan style lanterns.  This is contemporary of course but the price was right.

I also found this wooden slat box that had old sewing notions in them so I used that to carry around the rest of my trinkets that I picked up here and there.  I like how the black & white looks cause it kind of reminds me of Jem & Scout's cigar box full of the stuff Boo Radley left for them in the tree.

I've already made the printer tray project and will feature that next.  I am in love with how it came out.

Last Month Got Away From Me....

I have to say, I really don't know what's happening with time.  One second we are egging Val's house and the next we're ushering in May.  I can't barely remember what we even did this month.  Time loss is somewhat troubling....alien abductees report time loss.  lol  Let's hope that's not the case!  I often wonder how I got stuff done when I was working and commuting full time during the week.  I seem to be 10x busier now than when I had a job.

We've been doing some work over at my mom's.  This sickly cedar has been a hazard and we finally had to do something about it after one of the huge split off trees fell in the driveway.  It's a lot of work.  I forgot how much I hate yard work.  So that's when I go inside and start working on cleaning and purging stuff.  There's a lot to do that's for sure!!

Dragging those branches around is a lot of work.  I was pooped.

Marsha and Annette also came over to do seascape windows.  Annette brought this mermaid which was a stroke of genius.

Marsha's came out amazing too!!!  I love the glass and stuff she brought.

I also put together the wooden Snitch kit that Cathy sent me.  It was a very fast project.  Decided not to paint it though.  The natural wood looks so pretty.

We enjoy visits from the resident bun.  We think he lives under the shed on the hill.

And also did another metal sculpture kit of a lighthouse.  

Since I like to play fast & loose, I put the winter boots away and we're getting the new a/c units in.  I hope we have a few more weeks of nice weather before heat and humidity sets in!

Shellfishing Reconnoiter

Russell got his shellfish license so one morning we drove around, scouting out some of the beds open for digging.  The map in the town guide is really, really bad.  We had to compare it to a map of Bourne that I brought with us.  Pretty sure he has a good idea of where he'll go digging, if the weather ever gets warm.  These first pics are from various locations.

We finished up at Scraggy Neck so I could beach comb at low tide.  It was beautiful out...wind a bit nippy but not freezing.  Looking out towards Cleveland Ledge Light.

 The water looked so inviting but for the fact it was ice cold.

I had some fairly decent luck with my beach glass endeavors.

And back to normal with the awesome sound of the waves.

I am so grateful to my hubby for putting up with my painstaking search for treasure, even though he was really cold and hungry.  We went out for pizza after we left!

Right after I took that I looked at the sand and couldn't believe my eyes.  A beach glass bead.  I was literally dancing around.  This is one of the beach glass holy grail items and was a huge score.  Really one of the finds of a lifetime.

I hope we get some spring weather cause we're both eager to keep getting out to the coast.  It smells so good and the sounds of the water is very soothing.
