Plymouth at Christmas

Another fave place to visit in December is Plymouth.  Most of the gift shops are closed down for the winter but the lobster trap tree down at the docks is always worth checking out.

Lobster trap rocking chairs whaaat?

Then I drove up and parked on Court Street and walked around.  I was bummed to see a lot of my fave stores are totally gone and windows papered up.  I did get to hit up a couple of my fave antique collectives though.

A little creepy no?

Definitely creepy.

The town tree.

I am a total sucker for vintage ornaments, esp. Shiny Brites.

So many ornies, but no monies.

GAH!  I want this!

This too.  It's a beautiful stained glass chess set.

I left with a few bits & bobs, but not near as much as I would love to have purchased!

You live in such a beautiful area. All the towns are so quaint! My area keeps getting busier and over-built. Um, yes, that Santa is very creepy. haha But that lamp, simply gorgeous!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

    1. Oh there are plenty of areas that are overbuilt here but the towns have done a lot to preserve their quaint, colonial vibe. Merry Christmas to you & your family too Elsie!

  2. Love the lobster trap tree. Was trying to decide what clever tree could be in Texas - alas, I think they'd only use guns - ugh.
looks like a very fun walk about town

    1. There's a really cool lobster trap tree in Provincetown I'll get to see one of these days. They use a bunch of buoys for the 'star'. haha

  3. Some nice trees there although the town tree looks a bit bare. I guess it has lights on for night display. We don't have a tree this year, in fact only a couple of things out. Pity you don't live closer I have lots of antique ornaments.

    1. Yes the town tree wasn't quite up to it's usual standards. I've never been up there at night. I'll have to ask my friend that lives there. I would LOVE to see your ornaments! I love antique ornaments so much.

  4. When we went to Maine, I saw those lobster traps. But I could't find out actually what are those? Now I understand. Thanks for telling that.
    Beautiful pictures. Love them.

    1. Thank you so much Krishna. People use the traps as yard decorations too. I've always preferred the look of the older wooden traps. And hanging buoys on your fence or barn is also a huge thing.

  5. That's the first time I've seen a lobster trap tree - quite an interesting site.
    Keep enjoying the season.

  6. Hey JoJo,

What a festival feast of photos. What an awesome place. Although, I can't ever recall seeing such sights when I was in Plymouth. Oops, wrong Plymouth!

    1. Thanks Gary! Yes this Plymouth is probably quite different than that one. It's funny, the Pilgrims left that area of England due to religious persecution yet named this area after their towns in England. You wouldn't think they'd want to do that.
