One of the things on my fall to-do list was to visit a corn maze. The closest one to me is in Plympton, at Sauchuk Farms. Sheila & her son joined me on a gorgeous Sunday morning.
The maze celebrated It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown's 50th anniversary. Not that you could tell from inside the maze so I'm glad they had an aerial view of the map.
A lot of the cornstalks were stunted by the hot, dry summer, so at times I could see over the tops of the corn. That made the maze easier to navigate.
It didn't appear that they harvested much of the corn as there were lots of cobs still left on them.

It was a beautiful day, although chilly with a brisk wind. I immediately regretted wearing shorts but after awhile it finally warmed up.

We did the hayride out to the pumpkin patch. Those guys got pumpkins but I didn't want to cart one around.
That was another hay ride with individual cars. Ours had 2 large ones with benches on either side.
We'd had heavy rain the day before so it was a bit wet and muddy.

I picked up some kettle corn on the way out, as well as a half dozen apple cider donuts!
There is one more weekend left of the maze before it closes for the season. I'm really glad I got to go this year!

ReplyDeleteThey are fun but if you don't like being in enclosed spaces, it might be too uncomfortable. As I mentioned though, the corn didn't grow that high in places so it was easy and fast to navigate.

ReplyDeleteThank you! And those donuts were sooooo good. I still had 3 left on Wed. and they were starting to get a bit stale so I gave my dogs each one and I had the last.

DeleteI did ONE and only ONE corn maze this year and I think I'm good until next year when my kids go and tell me all about it. Getting lost in those things is not my idea of fun at all. - I love all of your pics JoJo. They're always just so inviting. You take pics and I want to go there! Altho, I'm watching "Grey's Anatomy" and I think I'd like to move to Seattle. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen! If you move to Seattle take me with you. lol Actually I don't like Seattle that much....Tacoma's way better but the traffic is a horror show. I'd move back to WA in a heartbeat but not to the Puget Sound region.
DeleteI've never gone through a corn maze before but I bet I'd have a blast. Well, at least once I got over the initial fear of being stuck in there forever.
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely that fear of never being able to find your way out but it really doesn't take that long and the bridges help you find the paths. You just have to get there first. lol

DeleteI've never been to a corn maze. I always thought I'd sneeze my head off. The kids were taken to one on a school field trip, so they didn't miss out. Remember the Harry Potter mazes? - they were a bit different as was most things at the wizard school. . .
ReplyDeleteThe maze in Goblet of Fire? Yeah, quite a bit different! lol At least there were no boggarts that looked like Dementors or blast ended skrewts in this maze. And Voldemort wasn't waiting at the end when the Triwizard Cup turned into a portkey.

DeleteThat looks like a lot of fun. I've never been to a corn maze, but I've wanted to. I don't know how close a place like that would be to where I am, but if there were one I doubt whether it would look like the one you went to.

Reminds me of that song," the corn is as high as an elephant 's eye" think it's from Oklahoma. Pumpkin fields look great fun,I've never saw that either.
