Light Shows

Oh must show you this gorgeous sunrise from November 19.  It was beautiful.

I wanted to try this technique and was surprised that it actually worked really well.  That cable shutter release was a good investment.

Got up at the crack of o'god thirty one morning and was delighted by this pretty scene, even though there were some high clouds making it a little fuzzy.

Then the sun came up.

My next door neighbour got one of those cool laser Christmas lights thing that shoots thousands of points of green light all over their lawn, house and even the trees.

Accidentally left the shutter open when I was moving things, but it came out cool.

Out of focus, but you can see the lights up in the trees.  I really want to get one of these, but in blue.

In the course of surfing around to find one of those laser lights, I stumbled on a projector with  prism that shoots moving lights onto your house.  I went down to Home Depot and picked one up...it was only $20.  The pics don't do it justice cause all the lights swirl around.  All I need is a disco ball and Saturday Night Fever soundtrack and I could have an awesome par-tay.

Best twenty bucks I've ever spent!

  1. Those laser lights are dangerous if you aren't careful and can blind pilots in planes apparently. You have to be very careful not to point it upwards. Great pix as usual. Love the sunrise.

    1. Thanks! You know I thought of that issue when I saw my neighbour's lights. There have been a lot of problems with idiots on the ground pointing lasers at planes and I wondered about these lights, but allegedly they are fine for pilots. I guess as long as they are pointed on the house and not skyward it's OK, although as you can see the one next door does overshoot the top of the house and hits the trees. Haven't heard any complaints from the FAA yet.

    1. It sure was. Of course I'd rather not be up for sunrise but alas, I was.

    1. Thanks! I usually don't plug it in every night, just on the weekends. A lot of people have the laser lights now. At least 4 houses on my block.

  6. PS: Jojo, I wanted to let you know that when I click over to your site from my iPad, it shows your site momentarily, but then quickly redirects me to another site, some kind of adware. This only happens with your site for me, and only when I'm on my iPad. So that's why I haven't been able to comment here as much as I'd like. Today I am on a laptop, and I got over here fine, but most of the time I'm on my iPad. Just wanted to let you know! :)

    1. That's really weird....I have no trouble accessing my blog at all, I've never gotten that redirect. There is something going on with blogger though. If you look at the help forums, people are lighting it up b/c they are losing follower numbers in droves.

  7. Your lights are lovely and you sure are having fun with that camera. I have the same problem with your blog on my ipad as Dawn who commented above me. It goes to another site like bingo or something that's why I read a lot of your posts at the same time when I can look at them on pc with no trouble.

    1. I don't understand why that keeps happening. How weird. I can post the issue in the blogger help forum and see if someone can answer why that happens. I only use a laptop for internet, not even my phone, so there's no problem.
