Red Oak

There's a large oak tree on the side of my driveway that turns a gorgeous shade of red.

It was a beautiful day; this was the day I went to Town Neck.  I shot these around 8:15 AM.

My neighbour's burning bush.  Love these too.

Down the street

Well at least we got some foliage!

  1. Beautiful fall foliage photos. Not many leaves change colors in Los Angeles and the ones that do don't seem to do it because it's fall. Fall weather has arrived here finally and I'm a bit chilly.

    1. How cold is it in LA? In the 60s? ;) lol The tree I featured above is now almost completely devoid of leaves. They are all over the driveway. Our temps are fluctuating quite a bit. First we get a warm day, then cold. But as long as it doesn't snow I'm happy.

    2. I know. I sound a bit wimpy about the cool weather. I guess it has been getting into the 50's at night and edging around 70 by day. But I'm cold--never thought I'd say that when I moved here over 20 years ago.

Cleaning up leaves is not something I miss.

    3. What does it mean, 'cleaning up leaves'? hahaha I never rake. It's pointless. The only issue, however, is that no matter how much I keep up with the dog poop clean up, I just know there's one I missed waiting underneath a leaf to dirty my shoe.

  2. I like the red trees in the autumn or the maples. Right now, we have lots of the wet stuff - rain. I like the snow on the mountains, not on the streets where I might need to drive.

    1. The maples are incredible. We have some here but not as many as up north or Eastern Canada. I hope to not see any snow ever this year. Ha. Wishful thinking!

  3. We have lots of maples around here and get fabulous colours also other glorious colours in golds and yellows. Not very good at trees I'm afraid. Love your pictures as usual.

    1. thanks Jo! I miss the maples! One of our neighbours had a gorgeous one in the front yard but they took it down 2 years ago.

  4. Hey JoJo,

Just checking in from warm, tropical England. Okay, it's still quite mild but we have just had to contend with a storm named, "Barney"! Yeah, we shall be waiting for Storm Fred!

What resplendent colours! Nothing like a bit of red oak.

  6. That oak is really gorgeous. Especially against the blue sky. Fall is a lovely time to take pictures.

    1. Thank you! It sure is....I just wish we'd had more foliage down here. It went from green to brown, for the most part.
