We took the kids minigolfing this past week at Pirates Cove in South Yarmouth. I only recently found out that this is a chain, with Pirates Cove locations all over the country. This one opened in 1984, which was the first and last time I played (only because in those days I preferred the course in Mashpee, Dick & Ellie's, which has long since closed).
There are 2 courses and if it hadn't been 6 trillion degrees with high humidity, we might have done the second course. We were hot, sweating and dehydrated after the first 18 holes so we decided to go to lunch instead.
There is a lot to see at this place, and I didn't even take pictures of all the pirate trivia bits on the sides of each hole.
There are 2 holes that go through caves.

We had to split up into 2 groups. Me, Russell, Jeff & Casi, and Nick, Sam & Val.
Of our group, Jeff won with a score of 40. Russell & I each got 48.
Dad is hot, but happy.

And the only reason I am in this is Russell threatened to toss my camera into the water.
Great time had by all, fabulous post putt putt lunch at 99 and more memories made.
Sounds fun. I love mini golf. We both used to be golfers but due to bad backs, can't play any more. I don't know if there is a mini golf round here I should check it out one day. Everyone looks as though they are enjoying themselves.

DeleteWhat a great course. It has been a million years since I've played mini-golf and, as I recall, it was a lot of fun so I'm not sure why it's been so long.

I love love love mini golf. Jeff was really pushing for 'real' golf but it was way too hot and some of us don't play so we suggested mini and let him pick the course. And thank you. I love them so much...especially the big guy in the red shirt. :D

Hi Penny!!!! <3 <3 <3 Yes it was great fun! Perhaps you could assist with retrieving stray golf balls! Russell lost his first one in the drink when you had to hit it over a channel of fast moving water. We watched it float away. lol His son had to get him a new one!!

DeleteI've heard of these courses. Saw one advertised when we were on vacation. Looks like fun but I doubt whether I'd be doing this unless I went with my kids and their kids.

You never played mini golf when you were a kid or when your kids were young? It's a staple thing to do around here in summer. I remember going when I was probably around 5 or 6. Maybe they are just super popular around here. There is mini golf everywhere, in almost every town. I would go with just Russell too.
DeleteWhen I was a kid we went often, but the courses were very basic and nowhere near as elaborate as these are. I would have loved this. When our daughters were younger my wife and I did go miniature golfing with them on occasion and it was great fun. I sometimes tease my wife about just she and I going (though I'm really kind of serious about doing it) but she never wants to go. That's okay though. It would be fun, but I guess we save money by skipping it.

ReplyDeleteYes, I am happy. And esp. that day I was VERY happy for Russell, getting to spend time with all of his children, playing mini golf at a place he took them all the time when they were little. It was a great day.

ReplyDeleteOh believe me, it was so hot and humid that I would love to have fallen in the water accidentally on purpose. If it hadn't been the shade of lime jello, I might have. Not sure if it's bright green on purpose or due to algae. lol

ReplyDeleteThe other course on this property is pretty cool too. And then there's one down the road from this called Skull Island that I've never played but it looks pretty elaborate as well.
