White Horse Beach

Continuing on with my beach combing endeavors, I went to White Horse Beach in Plymouth for low tide one afternoon.  As is my usual MO, I totally lost track of time and distance walked.

I had heard that this is a good beach for glass.  I went a couple years ago in the winter and had some luck but I hadn't been back since then.  Unfortunately looking for beach glass has become very popular and I find myself having homicidal thoughts when I see other people beachcombing!!!

This happy doggy was digging with reckless abandon.

I was having pretty decent luck though.  Nice fully cooked pieces, mostly white.  I decided that this must be a  'Corona' and other crappy Mexican beer drinking beach (clear bottles)

I have always loved beach and sand bar streams.

This is Beaver Dam Brook and I had to remove my shoes and socks in order to get to the other side.

Those are the White Horse Rocks.  There's supposedly an American flag painted on the other side.

Another rare find!  Pottery/crockery!

The tide was coming back in and this brook was running a little faster and deeper than when I'd first crossed over.  I almost lost my balance in the soft sand and rocks on the edges and bottom.

The day's haul.  Not too shabby!!  Some great rocks too.

The most unique finds:  pale purple, pale aqua, crockery and half of a hot pink bead that might be plastic.

  3. Hi Jojo,
Lovely pics, especially love the seagull with dinner in his
mouth! Wouldn't want to be the dinner though lol. I don't live
near a beach, what is the beach glass rave?
    Cheers, Anita.

    1. Thanks Anita! People are making jewelry with the beach glass. Everyone's looking for it now. When I was a kid, we would collect it if we saw it but it wasn't something that people really sought out like now. My childhood collection is so modest compared with what I've amassed since the 1990s.

    1. I LOVED living up there. I will treasure those 12 years in Washington till the day I die and I miss it. Never found much glass out there though, except some on Vancouver Island. Had hoped to score a Japanese glass float but alas, it was not to be.

  5. While the tide was out, a friend of mine and I once decided that, instead of clambering over some rocks on the beach, we'd stroll AROUND them. Not appreciating quite how far out into the sea these babies went, by the time we'd done it, the sea was around our upper thighs (not a great idea as we weren't dressed for swimming!)

    1. Yes you always have to be mindful of the tides. And never turn your back to the sea either. lol
