The tourist train was down from Boston for the Canal hoopla and I couldn't resist getting some snappies on my way to and from the tall ships at MMA.
Best train dodge ever! No seriously it was stopped.
On my way home I saw the bridge lowering.
This time I stayed on the boarding platform, looking at the lowered tracks.
It's started to move now! With a female engineer!

This is a new statue in the park that pays homage to striped bass fishermen.

DeleteI travelled by train a lot in England, but haven't done so at all on this side of the pond. Interesting pix JoJo. The Fisherman is a handsome young man isn't he?
ReplyDeleteYes he is! I wonder who modeled for the statue?! I love train travel but haven't done it in ages except the Sounder commute train for a Seattle Mariners game in 2001. That was the last time. But my mom would never fly so we were forced to travel long distances by rail.
DeleteOn my bucket list is to travel by choo-choo from one side of the States to the other, at a leisurely pace, stopping where I please for as long as I please (ah, in my dream!) :0)
ReplyDeleteAmtrak does offer those kinds of trips. My parents did them. They took the train from Boston to Seattle and down the coast to San Francisco to visit, and when they left, they did the southern route, getting off to see the Grand Canyon, San Antonio & New Orleans.

DeleteI've never seen a female engineer. Good for her. This reminds me of a place in Southern Cal that no longer exists called Travel Town. As kids, we loved running through old trains. In Chico, we have an old train cafe - an actual train that's permanently stationed. It's a novel comment but small and dusty, so it's not my go-to cafe.
