Continuing on with Sunday's walk at the beach.
Forgot to check the tide tables before I left and was really happy to catch the last of the outgoing tide and watch the sandbars appear. It's much better for beach combing!

It is my hope to get a microscope someday and examine the sand under it.
I saw two black helicopters! Don't tell me they don't exist!!!!
Epic Scusset Scores! We have the coolest rocks in the world. I would love to know what they are. So many look to me to be quartz, in all colours, like deep reds and yellows. Sometimes you get pinkish/purple ones too. I've googled 'what kinds of rocks are found on Cape Cod' but received no clear answers.
29 pieces of glass! Not too shabby! Plus that metal car. All the paint is stripped off and it's missing the front wheels too.
I can't believe I found these. They are the smallest sand dollars I've ever seen. Sadly the smallest one fell apart when I bleached it.
I think I may have to run out to the beach today after my daughter's doctor appointment. It's going to be gorgeous out here. Maybe I'll snap a few photos too. These are great. What black helicopters? You didn't see a thing. That's a bird. =P
ReplyDeleteYes the Men In Black will probably be showing up and telling me to remove that picture. Or my blog will mysteriously disappear! lol
DeleteGlad MIB hasn't found you yet or that you haven't been shut down. haha I went to the beach yesterday and thought of you while I was there. It was beautiful!!
DeleteLove the photos JoJo ! The close up of the rocks (in the photo alongside of the sand dollars) do make them look like quartz - they would be lovely as wire wrapped pendants. I can't help but wonder how old that little metal car is and how long it has been battered around by the waves and the sand . . . wonder how far away from its point of origin it has traveled ? Guess I must be part cat as I always get curious about things like that. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks!! I tried to read the writing on the bottom of the car but it's worn down too much. At first I thought it was the batmobile but it doesn't have the fins, unless they were in those holes in the front and back. Sadly my wire wrapping skills are non existent so I've never tried to wrap a rock.
DeleteHi JoJo,
ReplyDeleteFinally, I've gotten to your site. Good to get away from that alphabet madness! :) Now I have time to immerse myself in your photos. The beach is where I want to be. Yes, Penny takes me to the beaches in Wales and has been fetch a stick.
Those rocks are incredible. The closest I've seen to such colours was on the Isle of Wight.
Cheers, JoJo.
Gary :)
I am struggling w/ A-Z this year too and all I'm doing is visiting! Pretty soon I'll have to start paying to use the beaches b/c I don't buy a sticker. But that's OK...I'm usually holed up in my house to escape the heat and humidity.
DeleteWhat great finds and lovely colours. Your photos are so good.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne! I do enjoy 'treasure' hunting!
DeleteYou're a wonderful photographer. Those ripples in the sand look like waves. And I'm sighing deeply at that blue, blue sky in the third seagull photo.
ReplyDeleteHave a peaceful weekend, JoJo.
xoRobyn
Thanks so much Robyn! It's 50% the camera, 45% nature and 5% me. lol
DeleteTREASURE ! ! !
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the structure with the hole cut out, the way the blue sky is so blue and the shape of the sunshine showing, so round. All of your photos are gorgeous.
Thanks Liz! Yes that structure with the holes is the snack bar, walkway and public bathrooms, at the parking ot. It must've been built in the 70s or so.
DeleteWow! I've said this before, but I really *really* wish CuraƧao beaches had more to offer in terms of beachcombing. First, there's no real changes in tide; water recedes maybe three or four feet, that's it. Second, although there's a lot of coral, there's nothing else. And third, beaches here are coves, *small* coves, so walking their length takes... oh, maybe fifteen minutes. I love these finds of yours--yes, too bad about that sand dollar, but there's still the other one :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping over at Quiet Laughter yesterday!
I admit I'm really disappointed to hear that the beachcombing isn't that good in Curacao! I'm also surprised that the tides aren't very dramatic. Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
DeleteYou left a comment on my blog (featuring Gary and Penny) so I wanted to stop over and see what you have going on over here.
ReplyDeleteWay back in the late 80s I went on vacation with a friend to Kiawah Island. I collected SO MANY sand dollars. Some of them were TINY. I will have to take pictures so that you can see them. I also found one that was still alive. It is still green and has the bristly "feet" on the bottom side. Yeah, I should have thrown him back... but when would I ever find one again????
Thanks for visiting my blog Robin! :) Where is Kiawah Island? I'll have to look it up! Every now and then out here we'll have a 'sand dollar tide' where you can find them, but most of the time I don't see them here, or they are broken to bits. I'm surprised the live one you found didn't start to smell as it dried out. For tiny things they do stink after awhile if you don't get them into bleach.
DeleteI love that potato looking rock! The car is AWESOME. I was really surprised by what I assume are the "sandbags" you referred to. I've never seen a beach do that!
ReplyDeleteI'll vouch for you during your black helicopter questioning. I think you'd better get yourself that sticker, STAT! ;-)
Glad you found more blue glass. Whatcha gonna make? I'm VERY interested...need a blue bracelet...with silver...

I don't use my glass for any projects unless it's something for me. But I think I might have some blue in a jar I purchased at a junk shop. As for the car, all I can find online is the style is called Moto Blade, but I can't figure out what brand it is b/c it's all worn down.
