More Holiday Crafting

I really cranked it to get these last 2 Craft Kit of the Month Club cross stitch ornaments done.

I made one of these out in Washington but it was much smaller than this.  I realized I bit off more than I could chew after I made 5 points and realized I needed more.  I had to back the design paper with plain coloured paper because the backs are all white and I wanted colour to show.  This is way, way bigger than I expected it to be but it looks pretty good.

This one surfaced when I was looking for something else.  I started it last year but only got as far as gluing the outside gold edging and the silver star.  I forgot all about it till it fell out of a stack of paper and I exclaimed, 'OH YEAH!'  So I dug into the goodie bag that Monica gave me and used some of those beads for this, then after all the large beads/ornaments were glued in place, I sprinkled all the background with multicoloured seed beads.  It's wicked a little bit 'busy', but kinda cool to look at too.

I really love the paper star. It came out great. I used to cross-stitch all the time…then my kids came along and I never went back to it.

    1. It's the perfect craft for me to do when Russell is home because I can stitch in the livingroom, rather than having to be in the craft room. I have so many cross stitch projects to do that I'm not sure I'll ever get to them. 2 are started and I just bought the supplies to make a 3rd.

  4. Love your projects! I can totally relate to the time needed to cross stitch tho... I thought I gave myself plenty of time one year to do place cards for everyone for Christmas - I was really going full throttle near the end! I doubt people who don't cross stitch realize just how time consuming it is! Needless to say, I do paper place cards now ;)

Love the paper star; I must look up on how to make one!

  6. I used to cross-stitch all the time, until the fused wrist. That paper star is amazing. I have a blogging friend Amanda of House Revivals (she's in my sidebar) whose paper stars went viral. I'm sending her this link. Good things may be in store...not promising but I think she'll go nuts for this.
