Dennison Seals

I Heart Dennison Seals.  Oh how I wish I still had all the ones I had when I was little.  One of my dad's salesmen used to bring me shopping bags full of these charming little stickers.  I had all of them.  All the animals, birds, holidays.  I stuck them everywhere.

Seeing these pictures really takes me back

I've looked for these online and they sell for quite a bit of money now on eBay.  If I had a disposable income I'd buy them but alas, the photos must suffice.

I can still taste and smell the glue used on the backs that you'd lick to stick them.  And then your fingers would get all sticky from it.

Anyone else remember these seals and stickers?

  1. Oh yes... I remember them well, as my mother was a school secretary for most of her working life. Each Fall, she would hire me (my first paying job!) to help unpack all the school supplies for each room. I would be sorting hundreds of packets of those stickers for every occasion for the elementary grade teachers.

They were so cool! I wish I had kept a few too!

  3. I remember the stars and that box they came in. So true about being able to remember the smell and taste of the glue on the back! I have not thought about that in decades--thanks for the memory!

  4. Since I've started my snail mailing recently, I've been buying stickers to use on my stationery pads and envelopes. I haven't encountered the Dennison ones, but I love stickers! So, I do know how it feels. They're cute and makes everything look pretty. Teehee.

  6. I probably should, but I don't remember them. They're awesome, though - I love the things of my childhood!

  10. I never had any of these, but it's so funny to look at them and see the prices. 25 cents! I don't think you can buy anything for 25 cents today.

  11. Don't think they we had them here. I often grieve over things I let go when I was younger.

  12. Oh my--I completely forgot about those stars until I read your post. They had a distinctive taste, didn't they!!?? Now stickers are so widely available for children...but back in my childhood we didn't have anywhere near the variety.

  13. Also back then we had to lick the backs of the Dennison stickers, they weren't preglued. Now all I can think about is that episode of 'Seinfeld' when George's fiancee' dies from licking toxic glue on her wedding invitation envelopes!!! lol

  14. I remember the stars, but not the seals. We used to have the stars on our charts at school. I remember they could have pretty sharp points sometimes!

  15. I don't remember these at all. Perhaps it was because I was too busy learning needle crafts from two grandmothers. I can crochet (badly), knit (acceptably, but don't make me make a sock) cross-stitch, greek stitch, embroider, and latch hook rugs. But I love stickers and so did my students. I used to put funny stickers on the A and B math tests.

  18. I remember these when I was growing up!! My mom had a lot of them. She would get a big package of the stars to put on my color book pages when I colored a picture. She would switch them out with the holiday ones. Thank you Jo Jo, for all the happy memories. I haven't thought about those in years!

  21. Oh wow, do they ever take me back. My piano teacher used Dennison Seals. I still have some of my music books. Every time I learned a new song to her satisfaction, she would let me pick one out to put on the page.
Thanks for the flashback Jo, made me smile. :)

  22. For some reason I've been on this "nostalgic stuff from my youth" kick. I so wish I still had some of these seals but alas, I used them up, lost them, gave some to friends and cousins, and over time they all disappeared.

  23. I remember the stars mostly - and the taste of the glue - not exactly my favorite flavor. Their stickers are so cute and very retro-popular I wonder why they haven't brought them back into production?

  24. I just came across several packets of these seals. An uncle had them in storage. They are a little dusty but still in tact. I even have a box of the foil stars. Let me know if you want them & if the postage is minimal, I'll cover it. :)
