Pretties in the 'Hood

Just some of the lights and decorations in my neighbourhood, and the fun I like to have with them.

I loooooove how this pink tree came out.

I love how they put a star inside their lamppost light.

Overall I find that there seem to be far less lights and displays around here.  I don't know if that's a nationwide trend or what.  I know I shot way more pictures last year than I have this year.

  1. I think it's a trend. It's one of our traditions to go Christmas light gazing and it's harder and harder to find clusters of homes that put up lights.

Where I used to live had a guy that bought a real tree for every one on his section of the street and then asked them to decorate it and put it by the curb and they would have a block party but by the time I moved, hardly anyone participated. =(

  3. Now I have a smart meter in my house to tell me when electicity use is high, I wouldn't consider going crazy with the lights. I'm afraid all I see when I go past other houses with lots of lights on is "Aaaargh, global warming!"

  5. It's that way in my neighborhood too, there don't seem to be as many lights as last year. Sadly my lights were taken out by the blizzard :(

  6. Oh the photos are beautiful Jo-Jo! Love the "action" shots. Too bad about the decline in outdoor lighting... doesn't seem to have diminished up here at all. But nearly everyone has the more eco-friendly ones now. I love seeing the street all lit up!

Happy Holidays and all the best to you and yours Jo-Jo!

  7. beautiful lights...we have them mainly in the market, as no one decorates houses here for these holidays.
    have a nice day!

  8. Even before I moved back in with my parents, there were many years I didn't decorate for Christmas. Though I think I did a bit of something last year. I had a small 4-feet tall fake tree that I sold for maybe $5 when I moved at the end of September. Depressing, huh? Maybe that's the national trend - times have been and continue to be so tough that we, as a nation, are sinking into a real depression.
