A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood

We had one day that wasn't humid and I took the opportunity to get out and take a walk about 9:00 a.m., before I went home to bake and clean.  It was gorgeous!

Started in my yard with this beautiful Rose of Sharon tree that's on the side of my house.

Flower on my street

I loved the horseshoe on the lamppost.

I walked over to the MMA campus.

At this point, I heard a train whistle from the Cape side and I thought, FINALLY! This is my opportunity to get a shot of the train going over the bridge.  Unfortunately, I was still at MMA and I had to hump it over to the bridge.  Let's just say that I am NOT, repeat NOT built for running, asthma issues not withstanding.  This just goes to show how desperate I was for the train picture.

I got close to the bridge as it began to descend, huffing and puffing and trying not to die.  If you look close you can see the train on the end of the Bridge.  I was baffled....it looked like a boxcar, not the engine.  I couldn't figure out what the hell it was doing, but it only pulled onto the bridge this far.  Then stopped....

....and pulled back off the Bridge on the Cape side.  WTF??!?!?!?!  I mean really?  Backs up onto the bridge and then pulls away?  What are they playing at? I swear it's a conspiracy!!!!

Crestfallen, I left and walked back over to the MMA campus, the wind totally out of my sails.  And out of my lungs too, I might add.

I love the way this old house looks....it reminded me of either an Andrew Wyeth or Edward Hopper painting.

I came upon this teeny tiny beach along the edge of the Canal so I browsed a bit....got one piece of glass and some shells.

It was low tide.

Western entrance of the Canal and the main MMA campus on the right.

I love my life and I love Buzzards Bay!

  5. I thoroughly enjoyed taking this walk with you. The ocean, water, the beach, The Chesapeake Bay are all in my blood and I especially love walking around a marina "inspecting the fleet" as my The Swede (my Dad) and I would walk around the Annapolis marina checking out the visiting craft renting slips. Your neighborhood looks amazingly wonderful.
As a fellow asthma sufferer, currently on flippin' bed rest for a respiratory infection which has kicked me in the a$$, I totally sympathize with your lack of wind in your sails. And appreciate the apt metaphor ;-)

  6. JOJO, I LOVE THE PHOTO OF THE LENTICULAR CLOUDS AND MT.RAINER. I DON'T BELIEVE I HAVE SAW THOSE KIND OF CLOUDS BEFORE.
TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION ABOUT MY PROJECTS AND HOW TO KEEP THEM FROM TIPPING OVER. THEY ARE PRETTY STURDY. UNFORTUNATELY MY DOWELLS WERE NOT LARGE ENOUGH FOR RIBBON SPOOL HOLES AND IT CAUSED THEM TO LEAN TO ONE SIDE.
